hi one and all,
will try 2 keep short. trying to put son into crib yesterday, back made a huge pop and shift feel. down i went. i couldnt move or breathe. it was terrible. i'm used to the lower spasms. this was not the same. after crying & unable to move. art wanted hospital but i couldnt even move it hurt so bad. i finally caved in as we loaded up mom was coming by so they swept kids in w/them.

called family doc en route. when we got there he said chances are i would need a cervicial collar, xrays, & mri or ct scan. he thought i have a bony growth causing nerve compression or just a nerve compression. thus the neuropathy pain i had the last few mos. he said best option, ER not wait for him on monday.

go into ER. doc hasnt even touched my back. says its muscle spasms. i said "um, no. i've had those it's not the same" he battled me the whole way. i told him what my doc said. "well, i dont think he should have told you that since we only do mris or ct on ER surgery, i'll have to be sure to call him to discuss blah blah.." i told him "sure go ahead and call him. i just am telling you what he told me. i have Spa" he says "what?" i tell him again. he says "oh you mean spinal neuropathy" again i had to mention AS. he was so arrogant. they gave me some narcotic painkiller by shot. something with the letter P. didnt work. did xrays. luckily i still have good disc space he said. after 3 hourrs in there. he had a much nicer attitude. still insisting it's muscle spasms. yet it hurts to move or lift my left arm. i have burning down my left arm and if i move my neck, the thoracic/ribs hurt like you know what. i have to sleep w/pillows to hold me up. i dont have neck pain when i move neck, that's what worries me. i think it's something with a nerve.

doc gave me a script for vicodin,& Diazepam. anyone used dizepam? i am going to lay down. one hand typing is too much for me and back.

Adios!

Yikes, Angie and you were doing better.

As another KickASer, I can relate to the thinking: "I'm too sick to go to the hospital." No touch! Don't move me! And, if the Earth is still trembling from that earthquake make it stop.

Diazepam is Valium; it and Librium are probably the best known of the
benzodiazepines
a group of chemically similar psychotropic drugs with potent hypnotic and sedative action; used predominantly as antianxiety and sleep-inducing drugs.Side effects of these drugs may include impairment of psychomotor performance; amnesia; euphoria; dependence; and rebound (i.e., the return of symptoms) transiently worse than before treatment, upon discontinuation of the drug. Source: Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary

While still commonly used as a relaxant during emergencies, Valium (diazepam) is less often prescribed than it once was because of a high potential for dependence.

Best regards,

jcwinnie

I'm so sorry that you had to go through such pain and still have no good answers. Hope your regular doctor can be more helpful to you. Praying for your speedy recovery...

thanks for the info. ugh. i'm not touching that stuff. i tried that about 7 yrs ago when i was in a car accident. this doc that was not my usual GP gave me that and i think vicodin. i had SERIOUS hallucinations that night. i called my insurance the next day to see if my old doc took my new ins. he got me in and he immediately yanked me off of it. i didnt have very good help with it.

right. dont touch. dont move me. if i dont move or breathe i'll be fine. one hour later no improvement. sadly ER was no other choice ...grrr.

take care...

hi ann,
i hope to get in to see my family doc tomorrow. my back is burning in various spots. now the right ribs are burning. i think that's the neuropathy. i had done so good for about 3 wks and now everything is back with a vengeance. if i move my neck my thoracic hurts like a hot poker and sharp pains.

hopefully it will pass soon. thanks for the prayers. much appreciated.

Angie,

hiya, the old muscle spasm routine eh? Sorry you had to got through that...not nice when it's driven you to hospital.

Valium is not my drug of choice, but it got me through the bad bit after the injections. Can wreck your sleeping and very addictive....but can help muscle spams.

I hope this calms down, I've noticed that 3 days is the limit if it has n't started by then it is not going to.

Good Luck and feel better soon

David

(((Buggie))) I am SO sorry you are in so much pain. Your ER experience sounds like you must live in our town or is that just a thing with ER's? I hope you get some rest tonight and can see your regular dr. tomorrow. Hugs. Joyce

Hi
I was just wondering if you are still taking Amitriptyline? I think that is what they gave you. I am curious to know if you have stopped that and this is why your having this increased pain. Just something to think about.

Hey Buggie, how're you feeling today? Did you get in to see your doctor? Is he going to tear a strip off that arrogant SOB in the ER?

Hope you're feeling better really soon, lovey.

Hugs,

Kat
