Just wondered if anyone else noticed dreams from nightly sleeping coming back after being on a biologic.

Never seemed to require alot of sleep preAS. And then of course the fatigue and restless broken sleep arrived.

Not a big fan of pain meds either.

Just find it odd that I'm once again enjoying a deep uninterupted sleep with incredible fanciful dreams. Quite enjoyable.

I've at least noticed the long uninterrupted sleep after starting with the biologicals (Remicade). I'm the kind of person who almost never remember what I've dreamt after waking up, so I can't really compare before and after.

Technically I should have more nightmares now, because I've read somewhere we have those more often when we sleep on our backs. Pre Remicade I couldn't sleep on my back and now I can.

I'm glad you posted this question because I thought it was just me.

Ever since starting on Remicade I've been having a noticeable increase in dreams and nightmares, as well as insomnia which for me is a real first! I've always been a great sleeper generally, although was very sleep deprived (interrupted by pain) through the decade of my 20's. Falling asleep has never been an issue tho.

Remicade has helped my pain a great deal but has not been as effective in fighting fatigue. Being really fatigued and having insomnia at the same time is kinda bizarre but there it is. I was hoping it would go away as I became more accustomed to the med but it hasn't really changed much at all. Thankfully, once I do manage to fall asleep I tend to have a great sleep... just dream-filled.

I'm not sure if it's the ability to recall the dreams upon waking or just spending longer time in the sleep state where dreams happen. I guess I just don't know enough about the subject of sleep patterns etc.

Cheers!

aloha Klem,

as a young lad oh so many years ago...i used to ride horses and helped out a local stable, getting free rides for
doing cool down walks and combing and brushing.

i had a dream that woke me up one night...about horseback riding with the body i have now...i woke up
awake enough to laugh at the thought, rolled over and went back to sleep...galloping all over connecticut.

wierd huh?

Being on Enbrel, I can sleep better because of less pain. I don't notice any difference in the number of dreams. I like to sleep through the night without any dreams.

I'm with you on sleep deprived for decades now but also no issue with falling asleep. Somehow or somewhere along the line I just gradually lost the dreams. Chalked it up to more sleep deprivation and not being able to get into that deep sleep we need for the REM stage of sleep because of some painful part nagging at me all night.

You're right Mig having insomnia and fatigue is wierd. And interesting that you notice Remicade helping the pain but not the fatigue. Enbrel is working the opposite end of the spectrum for me, and maybe this lift of the heavily burdensome fatigue is so invigorating that I don't want to go to sleep. Thus leaving me less time so It better be good. I wonder if others like Dorothea can comment on this as she's been on both.

Regardless, remembering the dreams has made a happier awakening for whatever reason. Huh, dream therapy.

Glad it didn't sound strange to you.
Best,
Klem

Aloha Ben

Me too with the horses when younger. Even stepped up to owning my own and enjoying long mountain rides.

Who was that masked man? Can just picture you terrorizing the country side.

How's the foot? Are you up to getting around?

hugs

klem, aloha

foot and ankle are still sore...ist metathingee still gnarly...it's a month since the fall.
my ankle was still swolen two+weeks after the fall...was hyperextended...new word 'effusion'...no fractures.

i am getting around but dearly miss my walking for exercise...i had gotten used to the walking the loop...too sore.
and when the walking generates mechanical pain...not.

dr. s. asked 'how did you walk around paris on that?'...'very carefully' [rimshot]
thanks
peace, love, woodstock

Mel, your report of insomnia since starting the remicade disturbs me. I already have a black mark against my ability to sleep with the Restless Leg Syndrome (not to mention the FM and AS) and have only this year finally started getting half decent sleep for the first time in, probably, 20 years.

I do hope that if I get the remicade, it won't do the same to me. I might have to commit drugicide if it does.

Hugs,

Kat
