Next week, my brother is coming to visit me here in Korea and we are planning on traveling to Thailand and Hong Kong. I don't want to spoil the trip for my brother by always going to MacDonalds, but I don't know what to eat down there. On the Ko Chang, I'l probably have fish twice a day. In Bangkok and Hong Kong, I have no idea what I will eat. Does anyone have any NSD suggestions that are readily available in those cities?

Wow, wonderfull!! I've been in Bangkok and further in Thailand, wonderfull country. You can of course eat a lot of fish. Also lots of dishes with meat and veggies. Beware of sauces thickend with cornstarch. They use a lot of fishsauce, this is no problem. Eat "steamboat"!! A hot tub with boiling water on the table and a large plate with raw fish, meat and veggies to boil yourself. Wonderfull!!
Bangkok I cannot help you, a little bit of the same kind of food I think.
Have a good time!

Hi Eric,

I never been go to either two, but since I live in Jakarta, typically I know the food in Asia region.

Thailand famous food is tom yam soup (it's a sour/spice seafood soup) and safe for us. In the Thai restaurant, you can choose poultry, seafood and fry veggie from the menu, to make sure you can tell them not to add any corn flour on the stir fry veggie. Lots of very good easy bite (snack) but mostly are starchy

In Hongkong, I think its quite the same with any other Asia city, mostly Chinese food and you choose soemthing like steam fish, and (again) stir fry veggie. Also, yo can have roasted chicken or duck ( Hongkong is famous for their roasted duck)

As Sandra mentioned, steam boat is a perfect choice - it's NSD and you can have lots choice of seafood, tofu, meats, and veggie.

Have a nice travel

Thank you both for the advice. Before I was diagnosed with AS I had been to Thailand, and ate everything that came my way. The steamboat does sound good. Now I just have to learn to say No corn starch in Thai and Manderin (Cantonese??).

Eric,

Hongkong people mostly speaking Cantonese and it's very different dialect than Mandarin. Aware that most Chinese languange can have different meaning if you speak it with different tone

Can't help you with Thai and Cantonese as I only can speak Chinese in Hakka dialect.

You definitely must try steam boat and after that you can learn the way they serve and make for yourself at home, I usually always make it at home and add it with my own NSD meatball (chicken and prawn base), it's a nice stuff for family gathering
