Hey Chris:

Really very touched to be remembered so kindly in your post. As you know, I was welcomed by you when I joined, and that has left a lasting impression and connection. As flattered as I am by how young I appeared when I first joined, I just wanted to let you know that I had in fact finished my Bachelor's and Master's by then, and was doing leukemia research for the interim while waiting to be accepted to medical school. But I think I like your memory better .

Hugs to you Chris, and again, thanks for sharing...

I remember the Brian Harris site it was one of the few sites on AS that was around when I was first diagnosed...gosh this is it??? I actually tried to find back that site a few months back and couldn't.
So this is the evolution WOW!!

Excellent job guys!

Hi Rick! How good to hear from you again after all this time! What a lot of memories you brought flooding back with that post!
Thanks for remembering me, along with the others, BTW! I can't do much aabout adding anything to your "history" I'm afraid, as sadly I haven't been around here much in recent times (though not by choice, I hasten to add!)

Unfortunately, I need 2 more levels in my lumbar spine fused and bolted together, but while I've been waiting (been in and out of hospital 3 times since April, mainly for tests!) my knee decided to pack up completely on me, so I'm presently recovering from arthroscopic surgery to repair a large tear in the cartilage, as well as having some wear and tear work cleaned up!

Still waiting for the spinal surgery...... It's kind of "on hold" now, as my husband was dxd with bowel cancer in May, and has since had 2 ops during a 3-week stint in hospital. (Unfortunately we couldn't both get into the same hospital, even though we were in at the same time!)

Anyway, thankfully, he's been given the "all-clear" now, and is going back into hospital next week for a reversal of his ileostomy.
The oncologist has advised he commence a precautionary 6-month course of chemo when he's well enough though, so everything's on hold here at present.

Anyway, it's great to be back, and to chat with "old" friends.
I was going to make a post of my own tonight, by way of an "update", but I thought I'd reply to yours instead!

You're absolutely right about the way this place has grown, pretty much out of all recognition for us "oldtimers"!!

So....how are things with you?

Hi Sue,
Great to hear from you too. I hope your surgeries help out and you get through it all in fine shape. I had 2 operations on my neck recently. One in Oct. of last year and a second one 6 weeks later. The first operation straightened my neck quite a bit, but only lasted for a few days. They said I have some mussel spazems while asleep that pulled one of th screws loose that was holding a metal rod, and my neck began to go back to that old right hand curl.

The second operation straifgtened my neck some, but not fully straight. The good thing was that the pain levels have decreased from a 6 or 7 on a scale of 10 to a 1 or 2. Its really great having the pains reduced by so much. I can sleep through the night and wake without those old pains I had been living with for so long.

My wife and I went with some friends to Niagra Fall a few months ago for the weekend and I was able to take the 5 hour ride with no ill effects. I also walked aroud a lot seeing all the sights and wandering through the casino's. Before the operations I could never have done that.

Did you know that Teddi (Gentle Hugs) was back. She is registered as "Charmed One". I remembered her on Brian's old message board back at the very beginning and even before the name "KickAS" had ever been used.

Its really good to hear from you again. Good luck with the operations and let us know how you are doing. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Stay Well

Hi Teddi!!!

Where have you been all this time??? You have been greatly missed!! (If it hadn't been for Rick pointing me in your direction, I'd never have known this was you!!)
I do miss not having the pics next to ppl's names My memory's so bad now, and this place has become so enormous, I find it impossible to remember who everyone is!! (Especially since this latest upgrade!)

Anyway - it's so good to hear from you again. How are you?

Gentle ((hugs)) to you, dear long-lost friend

Hi Rick,

Thanks fo your good wishes, and also for pointing me in Teddi's direction! (I'd never have known otherwise, b/c of her new "name"!

Sorry to hear about your neck surgeries! (OUCH!!)
What an awful experience having to go thru it twice must have been?!
Glad things are so much better for you now though. Sounds as though it was all worth it in the end?

Take care, and thanks again.

Sue
