Because of a starch list in another posting, I decided to test sweet potato. As expected, the iodine turned black instantly.
I also tested turmeric, which is also a bady.
Gherkins are true to the KickAs list and are starch free. I have now added them to my snacking repertoire.
A few months back I metioned persilla seed flour. I have yet to test it, but I will soon.

For people new to the diet, one thing I found helpful was to print out a copy of the starch content of foods list and keep it in the kitchen for easy access.

Off the topic: Did anyone see the news article about growing meat? Scientist are now able to grow rat and frog meat from just a few cells. The article said that in the not too distant future we will have an appliance in our kitchens (about the size of a toaster) that will grow all kinds of meat. You place the cells in the machine at night, and by morning you have a steak or a piece of chicken. At this point, they can only make it the size of a piece of ground meat, though they can do several at a time. The meat is lower in fat than normal meat, which isn't so good for us NSDers.
