Hi Everyone ! Just wondering if anyone has heard of, or been to, these places. Í'm in this part of the world and frankly a week at a spa, regardless, sounds brilliant but they name Ankylosing Spondylitis by name. Plus monsoon is coming which is touted to be the best time to go. What are the thoughts here ,....

Hi, gypsy:

I've been to Kerala, but had some ayurvedic treatments in New Delhi, but just being on the ocean in that part of India, and especially north up to Goa, is a wonderful, even healthful, experience. I would be too tempted by starches there, and may have to take along plenty of antibiotics and fast many days in advance.

Happy travels,
John

Could you say a little more about this Kerala treatment? Is it named after that city?
I just finished this week my second round of Kaiya Ayurvedic treament here in NC. The therapist was taught by an Indian Ayurveda doctor who has a clinic in India, maybe it is Kerela. It is specific for AS. They do not have this illness in India like we do because they catch it very early and do this hot, herbal oil treatment. there are some dietary restrictions.
I would strongly disagree to take a lot of anti-biotics. An ayurvedic doctor would not approve. If you need any you can get them really cheap with no prescription in India. I have been there several times and also been sick there. Ugh!
I wonder if this is the same treatment as the one I am getting here which, btw,
saved me this week. My right hand totally closed, the tendons became rigid and nothing was working to relieve it. Then after two days of kaiya the hand gently opened and stretched on its own. What a relief. This is a good treatment for me but it requires having a lot of rest and drinking lots of pure water.
Please describe what you are referring to if you can?
My therpist told me about one of her patients who was fused and in pain since he was 19. Loss use of hands and could not stand on his feet because they were so curled. He went to this Indian clinic and after 3 months was 80% better. He now is a capenter/electrican in Florida... actually doing physical work instead of lying in bed in the shape of a "banana."
