If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Tam, I'm glad to hear you'll be seeing Brad's rheumy. If nothing else, you can rest assured that Brad has done all the leg work with this guy and made sure he knows what's what! Google Search - AS and Lungs Out of curiosity, I googled AS and Lungs. The search results are posted above - just pick a website and read away. AS can, indeed, cause lesions and inflammation in the lungs. This is something that your old rheumy needs to be told as it may actually be in his perview to treat, not your GP's. On the basis of this search alone, which he could very easily have done himself, I am more than happy that you are changing rheumies. Many hugs,
Kat

Hi Miriam, I'm sorry for taking so long too reply! I thought I had. Anyway, yes the rib/lung/chest thing is a living nightmare. It started in my breastbone about 8 yrs ago & just moved from there. I try to do breathing excercises but alot of times it just hurts too much. Most of the time when I sneeze only 1/4 of the sneeze happens-like my body can't handle it! I have been doing the LSD diet-well, the best i can right now-just getting started. I have found that so far it has helped quite a bit w/all my symptoms. It took a long time to get this bad-20 yrs-so I imagine the road back won't be a fast train! Take care! Peace, Tam

hi Kat, yeah, I pretty much figured that because I know that AS can attack the lungs-esp for a smoker-that would be me! The GOOD Rheumy I had used to measure my chest expansion everytime I went to see her! I was so sad that she moved away. Thanks for the link! knowledge is power!!!!! Peace, Tam

Hi again Kat, I went on the sites & I see where it is also common to end up with fungal infections when you have the lesions. I just really need a doc who really knows their stuff when it comes to AS since I have so many complications. If my new rheumy is not educated enough w/ disese re: the complications I have, I found a doctor at the Clevland Clinc that specializes in spondylitis & I will go there because I am at the end of my ropes. It is only 3 hrs from my house & it ranked 4th in US for rheumytology. I tried googling different things but what you came up w/ was the BEST Thanks again! Peace, Tam

Tam, I'm glad to help. I hadn't realized before your post that AS could affect our lungs in that way. The scope of potentially affected areas in this disease blows me away. I hope this guy can help you and you don't have to do the three hours to the Cleveland clinic. Hugs,
Kat

Hi Tam,
Cleveland Clinic is one of the best in the world. I have had difficulties trusting doctors in Canada and ended up in Cleveland Clinic and they did from A-Z tests and provided the final DX.
All the best.
Later, Ali

Hey Ali! Thanks alot! I'm sure glad to here tht someone else took that route & found positive results. I know of a couple people here w/different problems that make annual trips, sometimes across the country, to get the help they need. Not that the doctors in a specific area are bad, they are just not educated enough in a specific disease & do not continue their education. Many it seems rely on pharma. co. to educate them. thanks for your reply! Peace, Tam
