Hi all,

Just to let you all know, i'm now on day 2 of an 8 day total fast, water only. I've tried everything over the last 2 months to get out of this flare. Fingers crossed this will kick start the much needed healing process.
I'll try and keep you updated as things progress. Hopefully i'll be pain free by mon night (the 6th)

Health to you all

Charlie

Charlie, please keep us informed of how it is going! I know that Gilly has explained your 8 day fast to me but I am still a little worried for you [sorry, but I am a Mom and do tend to get worried! hehehe] as 8 days is such a long time!

I'll be thinking about you over the next 6 days.

Good luck! I just heard a lecture from a GI doctor about how fasting changes the intestinal tract.

Best to you, are you working with someone with the fasting? From what I have read it can be beneficial but also damaging if not done correctly.

So far so good... Just spoke to Charlie... its Day 3 on his fast on only water. Happy to report his back, rib and hip pains are going down, his tongue is looking pinker and strangely his skin is looking better too.

He has no internet at the house, but I thought I would report in for him. Although he in really hungry, he feels very alert in his mind, and he is encouraged that he is not in as much pain. The relief is helping him continue... so , so far, so good!

The info he was sent from Dragon Slayer and others has REALLY made a difference, and without it he would still be crawling in the dark in pain with his AS.

Thanks in advance, and I will mail here later in the week. I know he will write a full report post fast. Hooray! I am going to get my baby back. Thank you... thank you... thank you.

Love and sunshine to all.

Gilly

Hey!

Great to hear that fasting is helping Charlie!!
Looking forward to hear his report afterwards.
If it really is that helpful, I think I'll do it too..

Health to everybody!

Hi everyone,

Well i'm back in the land of communication now and still on the fast. Its the end of day 6 and the pain has almost completely gone The savage hunger stopped by the end of day 4 and now i feel very serene but obviously very weak. Yesterday i felt absloutely fantastic and surprisingly had loads of energy. However today i have a little bit of pain again. I think this is due to a slight reaction from the elimination process. The general trend though is extremely positive and i am certainly no longer in a flare.

Really fantasizing now about the foods to break the fast!

It will be interesting to discover just how much pain comes back when i start eating again. I'm going to start on the safest foods possible.

All the best to you all,

Charlie

Charlie! I am so glad you are back! and success too

So what are you planning to eat when you are back on to eating? You said you will start with the safest foods--which are what for you? Are you still going for the full 8 days?

Perhaps your little bit of pain is just your body saying 'feed me'??

Woo-Hoo Charlie, that is great. Well done. Just been reading (am reading) the book on Sjogrens Disease. Big mention of AS and diet and...and, *fasting*! Given the thumbs up. Good book.

Will be interesting to know what you break your fast with and how it all pans out. Will be watching for reports -

Take care.
