I hear so often of people becoming addicted to their pain killers & then having a job weaning off them. I have found over the years that there are alternatives to coedine or co codamol etc, I use a TENS machine for about 40 minutes a day & it give me pretty much a pain free day until I go to bed when i do take pain meds. This enables me to funtion without my brain being dulled with meds. They are about the size of a bleeper & can be worn & used discretly almost anywhere.
 My wife, son & me!
