Hi everyone! I just had a thought. With all the talk of gut issues, the NSD, and magnesium etc, I was wondering if maybe us ASers are predisposed to a certain diet that somehow screws us up. So, I thought maybe I could start a little thread asking us all what kinds of foods we crave/subsist on (NOT COUNTING SPECIAL DIETS - if you're on any kind of diet now, tell us what you ate a lot of before the diet)

Starting with me :

dairy, potatoes, pasta, and meat. I cover everything with butter and/or cheese, and I also have a sweet tooth. I could easily be a soda-pop junkie, but I've been working on that because of a slight gut issue (and I had kidney stones - ugh! That'll put you off soda pop . . .)

And people, don't hate me because I'm skinny! My dad's name is Slim, I can't help it!! (I actually have had problems with being WAY too skinny . . . 5'8" and 102 pounds is NOT healthy)(lord help me if I ever have to start watching my waistline . . . I'm so used to eating the fattest foods I can just to stay out of the hospital . . .)

Loves y'all!

-Bridge

I crave junk food, both sweet and salty. I really have to fight against this craving. I try to only indulge on weekends. On the other hand, I love fresh fruit and veggies in the summer time, meat and fish. Living where I do in Alaska, and having a husband who loves to fish, we get pretty much all we want of several different types of fish and seafood. We are also lucky enough to have a friend who loves to hunt, and he shares his wild game with us.

Speaking of gut problems though, I've got some kind of gut thing going on, and I'm not sure what causes it. For one thing, fiber seems to make it worse. When I eat, it feels like it just sits in my stomach, right under my breastbone. Sometimes I feel pressure there for hours after eating. What the heck, that's just not right!!

Anyway, that's my situation. It will be interesting to hear if there's any common thread here. Oh, by the way, I'm certainly no Skinny Minnie!

Yes, I crave food!!!! LOL

Actually, for me I am really having to watch carbs. I seem to be craving cereals, etc. Also I HAVE to have my fruit. Then there is always chocolate. I can almost tear the kitchen up looking for chocolate.

You are tiny. I have a tiny daughter and she is never hungry. She truly eats to live and not lives to eat. She only eats because she knows she has to. She has fought to keep weight on all of her life. She did not get that from me!

Hope you are doing well Bridget. I love your posts. Always makes me smile.

Hugs.

Before the diet... my meals were pretty simple since I was male and single.

Breakfast - cereal and milk (Cherios)
Subsist most of the day unless went out for lunch on licorice and unsalted pretzals
Dinner - Lean Cuisine of some sort

Licorice and unsalted pretzals were my comfort foods... but made sense.... junk foods with empty calories. After the sugar highs would want more...

Also drank Diet Dr. Pepper like it was going out of style.

Prior to my unsalted pretzal kick, it was bagels... prior to that, Snickers bars.

Prior to a restricted starch diet, my staples were cold cereals, lunchmeat sandwiches, pasta, and ice cream.

Kind Regards,

Hey Bridget, prior to NSD [started Sep 2006] I ate anything starchy! My favourite food that I still crave: peanut butter toast.

Now my craving that I give in to is chocolate [starch-free, of course ].

Cheers,
Rita

Hey Joyce,
Have you tried the Special K protein plus? It's only 9 carbs, 10 grams of protein and 5 fiber. I sprinkle a few goji berries on it. Take care, Wanda
