Hi Everybody,
I said I would have a bunch of questions for you since I came back and here's one of them now. This is one that I have been thinking about for a long time. An ancestry question about AS. I'm not doing a study or anything, but I thought it would be interesting reading all of your responses.

Question #1
What are/were your ancestor's nationalities?

Question #2
How would you rate your AS condition? (slight? - moderate? - bad?)

Question #3
Do any of your relatives have AS or another autoimmune disease? (including ancestors)

-

My answers are:

1. Irish and Scottish. (grandparents)
2. Bad.
3. Nope, I am the only one that I know of, even though I am B27 positive.

-

Thanks,
James.

HLA-B27+, JRA diagnosis in 1981, re-diagnosed as AS in 1988. Also iritis, colitis, and psoriasis. NSD + low carb helps me. My health makes it hard for me to post in a timely way.

Question #1
What are/we're your ancestor's nationalities?

95% German/Prussian, little Austrian/Bohemian I am told.

Question #2
How would you rate your AS condition? (slight? - moderate? - bad?)

Now - Slight, prior to Diet or off of Azulfadine Bad (Symptoms for 12 years).

Question #3
Do any of your relatives have AS or another autoimmune disease? (including ancestors)

Father has AS, fused entirely in spine, lost most of movement in neck.
Grandmother (Father's side) has IBS.

Fathers brother and my brother display no symptoms, brother has no children as well as my uncle, I will have first early next year.

Hey, James:

Question #1
What are/we're your ancestor's nationalities?
Irish, Scotts, and English

Question #2
How would you rate your AS condition? (slight? - moderate? - bad?)
bad
NOW: Totally in remission due to diet+antibiotics, but dealing with the damage from years of dietary ignorance and NSAID abuse.

Question #3
Do any of your relatives have AS or another autoimmune disease? (including ancestors)
My maternal grandmother had "arthritis" and I think undiagnosed AS may have contributed to my mother's death at age 43; she was a very enthusiastic smoker and also drank too much (a real CONSUMER). There may have been something similar wrong with my maternal grandfather, also, but he died before I was born.

Regards,
John

slight

Yes, father. Can't help you with my ancestors; they just lie there and remain silent. I'd wager they're pretty stiff by now, though.

Hi Oak,

Like you, I have concerns for my younger brother. He seems to be having stomach issues, and something like colitis issues, though not very much. He did get dx'ed with a kidney stone. He got dx'ed last year with a panic attack. It all might be that he is a very bad eater, very big on drinking, a smoker, and into street drugs but only if people around him are doing it. He hurt his back back when we were teens, and still hurts him today, but he doesn't show any arthritis signs that I know of. However he has a bad back... it runs in the family. He only sees doctors if whatever is bothering him keeps him from working.

Take Care,
James.
