I just got my blood test back I have been taking them (TB meds) every 3 weeks has been Very normal (since july 2008) excepted for the elevated Platelet count wich has been high for a long time. I am supposed to start Enbrel this week.. My Family doc called and said that my liver panel was elevated:
Alkaline--167
AST/SGOT -- 45
ALT/SGPT -- 70
Is this normal when taking the INH meds?

Hi.

Not sure if that's normal with this medication, but you may want to ask your doctor.

I do know that AS pts sometimes have abnormal liver function tests, but I'm not really sure why myself. Does anybody else know? It could be that it is not med-related for you.

Well they did 2 more liver panels and they were normal. Doc said they were not raised enough to quit the INH... It is just everything is so monitored these days with my blood and I was better off when I did not know...

I just got my results back and they appeared to be off the charts to me. One was around 60 and the other 134!

I immediately contacted my rhuemy an he said that high numbers like this are not uncommon when taking INH.

(I am taking it because I tested positive for TB and have been prescribed Enbrel)

He said that unless I am having abdominal pain, coca-cola like urine or pale stools --- not to worry.

HOPE HE'S RIGHT!
