Hi Aly,For a page turner to keep you from noticing a bumpy flight I'd read Life of Pi (first 3 chapters are set up, then you're hooked).
I am excited about some sequels, the third in Gregory Maguires Oz series is out, A Lion Among Men, (follows Wicked and Son of a Witch ) and Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card (you must read Ender's Game if you have not, it is one of my favorite 5 books of all time).
Ooooh! Christmas and a book!

I loved Life of Pi... actually had 3 people stop me in the airport at different times to tell me how much they loved the book I was reading.

ok, ok, it seems Aly has read a lot of these... I'm taking off my gloves;
The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson (or any of the 400 books in the Baroque Cycle) or The Stars My Destination (Alfred Bester)

Hi, Aly:

For a good insight into the present state of affairs, and probably a pretty close glimpse of the future: Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is pretty entertaining. I also like P. J. O'Rourke's Eat the Rich.

bon appetit,
John
