I fasted today on just water and green tea before starting the NSD tomorrow. I had the most pain-free day I've had in weeks. I'm afraid to believe it could be caused by fasting but nothing else has changed.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I feel the same way when I don't eat. However, eventually I have to eat and then it starts all over again.

I too feel so much better when I don't eat. It's got to the stage that even though I feel hungry, I have no appetite; it's as if my body realises this makes a difference. However, I have diabetes, and find not eating makes me even more tired than usual, so not necessarily a good thing to do! Not fair is it!

Emma.

I always feel worse after I eat. I have noticed this for a long time. I hardly eat and food just doesn't look good to me, esp. anything heavy. Hope you have luck with your NSD. Keep us updated!!!

Okay - I'm at the end of the first week of NSD. No obvious improvement yet but I'm sure it takes time. I may still be "withdrawing" from the prednisone.

Decided to fast again today - I'm curious to see whether the nearly pain free day I had last weekend when I fasted, will be repeated.

My husband has commented on our somewhat boring diet! I've been relying heavily on stir-frys. So easy to consume lots of safe vegetables and protein. But he said "we're not going to have stir-fry every day, are we?"

Hi Wendy,

Typically now I note the same with apple fasts.. however, first few times was opposite as body eliminated a lot of toxins I had built up.

When I first started NSD i did a lot of stir frys (I used bean sprouts instead of rice). I loved them and could never tire of them. But agree for me, early on diet was rather similar often.

Hi Nelly,
The best information I've found so far is on this site, both in the NSD and diet related thread and the links on the main screen. There is a really useful list of foods and the amount of starch they contain that I printed - I think that's on the NSD and diet thread.

As a follow up to what I wrote this morning - definitely had an improvement in pain today while fasting. What a choice - food plus pain or no food, no pain!

Same for me too. If there is nothing in my guts, my pain is very low. I think just from the damaged parts.
