I started Enbrel last week after months of issues getting the medication paid for. I gave the first injection (50mg preloaded syring, not sureclick) in my right thigh. Outside of some pressure and that sting everyone said I would get I have had NO site reaction. The sting and pressure went away in minutes and I never thought again about the spot. This morning I gave my second injection. It didn't hurt near as bad as last weeks and like last week is now not noticeable. Last week was GREAT! I mean, whether it was a placebo effect or the medication itself, I felt wonderful. I have read MANY peoples stories about issues with Enbrel. Has anyone had good results? I am hoping that after all of this time I am finally going to be able to lead a relatively "normal" life, but after all of my reading, I am looking over my shoulder for the rug to be pulled out from under me. Am I too optomistic after only one week? Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Kelly

My sweetie has been on Enbrel since August and has had wonderful results with it. No site reactions to speak of; although the day of the injection he gets an Enbrel high. His brain kicks in at triple speed and he talks non-stop. The day after, he has a bit of a crash, but then it steadies out for him.

Hope it continues to be good for you.

Hugs,

Kat

Thank you Kat!

I hope to see good results, though I could use some extra motivation with the "Enbrel High" I have yet to experience that. I did fell kind of worse yesterday, but when I say worse I mean light aches compared to normal. Is he on the 50 mg or the 25's?

I hop you don't get the Enbrel high. It's truly a pain in the patoot for anyone on the same room!!

He started on the 50mg, but it was running out after 4 days, so we got him the 25mg (I became an expert at mixing the stuff). That got him stablized, but he didn't like sticking himself twice a week. Lots of bruising (he's not overly careful how he pulls the needle out) and just a pain in the butt to do. So, now he's back on the 50mg. It's actually better than the first time. I think the 25mg doses for a month did get him on a roll with it and built it up so that he can do the 50mg and he's fine now until the day of the next injection.

I know what you mean when you say light aches as compared to normal. I'm on Remicade and even tho it's not perfect anymore, what pain I experience now is way better compared to what I had before starting on Remicade.

Hugs,

Kat

Hey Kelly...I loved being on Enbrel...it worked wonders for me, I lost my whole supply and that's when I quit, after two years on it....the wonderful effects of the Enbrel stayed with me for almost a year...

I'm really happy for you and I hope the benefits of the biologics continue to pay off for you in the future.

I am one of those who did not notice any significant benefits from Enbrel or Humira. I also never got any sort of high off them either...bummer.
My wife discovered that I had a tendency to become grouchy whenever I missed my shots - being completely absent-minded, this happened a lot. I'd hear her say "Did you forget to take your shot"? I'd feel my blood boiling as I searched my memory banks for the right sarcastic response...and then I'd realize that she was right.

Remicade seems to be my next adventure. I hope this one works better than the others.

Again, Kelly, I am really happy for you (I preferred the Enbrel needles over the pen because it gave me a feeling of control over the process)

I am on enbrel as well and am doing well with it! Knock on wood! I to think it hurts initially but am used to injections. I've been a diabetic for 31 yrs. My site gets kinda red but it seems to be ok. I've only been on it a few months. I started it with methatrexate but the combination made my immune system obsolete. So this has been my first week with just enbrel! I use the sure click but not sure the reason behind it. I never even asked? Is it cheaper the way you do it? I'm happy that it seems to be working for you! Any goods are worth everything regardless of the reason. I don't always have "good" days I just take em as they come but always hope for the best!

Enbrel rocked my world for about 2 years. It was the best two years ever! Enjoy!
