If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, I have some pain on my leg near my hip on outside... it feels as if someone had a glove with the palm full of needles and placed that glove against my leg... it is sort of strange it comes and goes... I have tried to figure it out if I am standing or sitting .... it doesn't seem to matter ... it can happen no matter what I am doing. Any one else with this problem.... it only last for a short time thank goodness. It can do it 3 or 4 times a day or not at all some days. Anyone else feel this???? I am wondering if it is something to do with nerves. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi there, I'm not sure what that could be. If it were running down your leg from your butt it would probably be sciatic nerve pain. But on the side, hmmmm. Usually pain on the side of the hip indicates some kind of SI involvement, but this I'm not sure about.
Have you tried googling it?
Hugs,
Kat

no I haven't tried googling because it seems so strange... I have nerve pain in my back and this is not the same at all... it did not feel like my hands do when they go to sleep but more like you are getting stuck with about 50 needles all at once... it hurts like crazy but just for a few moments...Well I will go and try to google it... wish me luck because this sounds crazy....LOL Heck I just hope it is something that will never come back again...

Well ... as strange as this problem sounds... I did find others with the same problem but no answer as to what it is...so now I don't feel as if I am crazy any more... the other folks which have this same problem thought it sounded crazy to them too....LOL Some went to the dr about it too. But if no one here has this feeling it must not be AS related at least. I will do more research on it.... thanks for your help!!!

Well, I guess now, at least, you know you aren't alone or crazy. That's a start. Hopefully, someone else here will see this and recognize what you are talking about.
Hugs,
Kat

Sounds like the bursa area. I have had such a hard time getting the inflammation in the bursa calmed down. It finally is with steroid injections and nerve blocks. I am certainly not a dr. so don't take my word for it. I would see the dr. if it really bothers you or keeps up. I was just sharing my situation. Blessings. Possi

Hey carrottop, Sounds like a bursitis. The big name is Throcanticular Bursitis. I had it in the early days of my AS. Basically its caused by walking differently than normal and putting strain on different muscles. A round of PT that included lots of stretching exercises, heat wraps, and EMS Stimulation fixed it right up. Now as long as stretch good in the mornings I do fine. If I feel it trying to come back, the stretching seems to help alot.

I found this information which might explain what you are experiencing: http://www.orthop.com/images/pevny_pdf/hip_trochanteric_bursitis.pdfKaren
