London England? Try Boots the chemist. They should have both readily available. IF not Boots, then any other of the high street chemists.

The iodine I could find in my local chemist and health food store was colour free. I asked why that is and they told me something about the old style iodine being phased out. I still use the colour free one as things still change to purple - when starchy, but I wonder if it is as reliable. As far as where to buy it you could go to a health food store as people take it as a dietary supplement

Hi Laurie,
I buy iodine tincture (betadine, etc) and also eyedroppers from the chemist/pharmacy/drug store. Have never found one that didn't carry these. The iodine should be black, actually it is amber coloured when diluted. Don't waste your money on the clear iodine, it doesn't work for our purposes

ok, just read that. it didn't work for me when i tried it. perhaps we had 2 very different types of clear iodine ? or was my test flawed ? (it was a long time ago)
