maybe its just me, but when i tried wearing the wrist braces, hand braces, etc, it makes everything infinitely worse. like the tendons get really weak and then are even more susceptible to inflammation. even soft wrist bands eventually did the same thing.

is it just me? anyone else notice that bracing makes things worse?

Hi Suzie, when I do a lot of crocheting I found I had more problems with my right thumb. It's actually been good for a while.

Right now only have problem with swelling between fingers. Only occasional pain. As for heal pain - soon as I got my orthotics pain not so bad - must wear shoes with orthotics in them all the time.

Weather - diet - changes brings on more pain also.

Hugs

Gerri

Hi Sue, yes sometimes the resting splints do seem to make it worse but I can't judge yet, so I put them on and if they start aggravating me and increasing the pain within the first say 30 minutes, I chuck them off. Other days I can tolerate them and the resting does seem to help.
One day I might actually figure this darn condition out !!!

i don't know if its true or not, but the hand therapist that helped me with my dq tendonitis told me that a brace will make carpal tunnel better and will make tendonitis worse. and that's one way to tell it apart (with wrist problems).

don't know how true that is, but for me it turned out to be true.

was very important to rest the hands, but not to immobilize them,
so, for me, no bracing of any kind, but minimal use as well.

and don't use the thumb to click on the mouse pad on a laptop.
i took my computer home this weekend without a mouse,
and because my thumbs were good, did too much typing and way too much
mouse pad thumb clicking, and now, the tendonitis is back a bit.
but my external mouse helps a lot.

Oh that joint is so painful. I have worn different braces with not much relief. It is swollen huge and I can't open jars, etc. I know what you are dealing with. I am just thankful that it isn't a bigger joint than it is. The spine with all of the joints and the hips are enough just think if the thumb joint was that big too. I guess we just have to look for things to be thankful for.

I hope you get some relief. Try soaking it and also a brace.

Hugs and Blessings.

Oh I am jealous for even an hour or so of pretty shoes. I have some beautiful shoes in my closet but my lift would not stay in them even if it didn't show. I miss pretty shoes. Was it worth it for the pain afterwards?

My toe joints hurt also but the shoes hurt my back. Our youngest daughter is having severe joint pain from high uric acid. They say it is one of the most painful arthritic diseases because it is sharp crystals that get in all of your joints. She is hurting so bad.

Just mentioned that in case they have never checked your uric acid levels.

Hugs and Blessings and back into the tennis shoes.

hehe yeah Possi i was really happy to wear pretty shoes... never been a heels girl but it was nice to wear shoes that actually matched my outfit... in place of the trainers im usually in! the day after the pain was worth the shoes but now on day three im thinking NO! its slowly dulling down though.

i have no idea what uric acid levels are!?!?! my doc hasnt even given me a blood test to check things.. hes great but busy being as its a public hospital!

Hugs, Sonja

p.s. ill hope for a pretty shoe oppertunity for you too!!
