If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I went to my G.I. specialist today and got Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole to see how this treats my G.I. flare. I had a couple questions:
Anyone have experience with these? Any NSD/LSD followers know or believe that either of these have Klebsiella killing effects? Any good/bad stories about these out there regarding treating AS and/or Crohn's or Colitis?
Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

my husband and i went through the metrinidazole and some other antibiotic (can't remember which one) and peptobismol to see if my gastritis and his GERD were being caused by H. pylori (he had H. pylori, my culture was negative, but back in early 90s, hard to culture). so we were on the antibioitic regimen for about 2 weeks. it did nothing for us, but that'sbecause our issues are genetic not bacterial. but this was the standard protocol for H. pylori.
but don't know about this treatment for intestinal issues.
i will tell you though, be cautious with the metrinidazole; too high of a dose (for you) can cause nerve damage. if you feel tingling in your hands or feet, just have the doctor cut back on the dosage. that's what i had to do, and the side effect went away. apparently, its only a side effect of an overdose, and what would have been a normal dose for others was too much for me.
my husband couldn't handle the treatment and had to switch to gentler antibiotics.
good luck,
sue

I'm on Cipro right now, but not due to a GI cause. I've had no problem with it.
Cipro or Flagyl is commonly prescribed by GI doctors for the colonless who have a bout of pouchitis. Pouchitis is generally the equivalent of colitis for those who have an ileoanal anastamosis (j-pouch) due to their colons being removed. It's rare in the j-pouch world that both are used concurrently, but an individual from the UK just reported she was hospitalized and they had her on IV Cipro and IV Flagyl concurrently. When I used flagyl the last time, I thought it was fantastic.
Also I do recall that Dragonslayer mentioning cipro was one of the abx he used to kill the klebs to help send him into remission.
Last time I complained of similar symptoms to my surgeon about five years ago, he doled out Flagyl.
Good luck.
Kind Regards, Jay

Hi, Adam:
These drugs are great Kleb killers, and I would not even get anywhere near starches while taking these, since Kleb selects out resistive strains so easily. My regimen is 11 days Cipro at 1g/day and the Flagyl as a follow up to ensure there is very minimal C. diff overgrowth. Then followed by probiotics. Works like a charm so far (10 years and counting)...
HEALTH, John

Thank you guys!
Should I stop taking my probiotics while on this? Or would it be beneficial to keep it up?
Anyone get a lot of grumbling and runny diarhea numerous times during the day?

I agree with John 100%
About the last question I was starting to have MAJOR stomach issues nausea, cramping, couldn't eat the Dr felt like it my be the starting of Chrohns. Luckily I had my first Remicade treatment and all the symptoms stopped.
I know I am only like 8 days out on my 1st dose and the symptoms have not come back yet but I am scared that they will.
I am hoping that the Remicade will comver many bases for me since it seems like this is one of my last options.
Good luck with your journey,
Lisa

I have been on Cipro many times, it is good stuff but I try to not take it more than I need it as I am only 45 and want to save some of the big guns (big meds) so I can take them when I am older and the choices are running out.
Best of luck to you,
Lisa

What about this watery stool like 5 - 10 times a day? If I don't eat, I don't get the water. I think I need to contact my doc about that? Anyone have anything about side effects?
