Hi all,

I'm new here and its so good to hear from people around the world who is also suffering from this disease. I was diagnose with AS 3 years ago I have never felt soo much pain in my life, it ranges from just my back seizing up, to excruciating bouts of sciatica , and really bad pain just above my hip (it feels like i've pulled a muscle that does not relax!) all this to the point that I can't walk. And just recently it has been really bad, I feel so fatigued and tired all the time...i just feel so frustrated and sad, I am 29 and i feel sooo old and disabled, i can't do things I want to do because I am in pain most of the time. I went to my GP the other day and asked to be referred to see a rheumatologist so I can get treated properly. All my GP can do is prescribe drugs for pain relief that isn't effective. I am glad i have found this site so I can scream out my worries and problems with AS...I have a supporting partner but he doesn't understand at times, its good to vent out to people who knows what I'm going through... Thanks!

Thanks Russell,

I'm on a waiting list to see a rheumatologist at the public hospital (free of charge you see) otherwise I can see a private one, hopefully I don't have to wait too long.

Welcome Grace! I definitely know what you mean when you say you are young but feel old. I am 31 but feel about 61.

Hey Sonja! How was the Alexander class? I know what you mean about feeling old when you are young. I rode past an old employer the other day. I worked a physical job setting up tents, tables and chairs for parties during the summer while in college. I used to work outside for long hours lifting a lot of stuff. It didn't bother me at all. That was 1998. My back pain started right after that. It started in the fall of 1998 and has spread throughout my body. There is no way I could do that job now.
