If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello,
I know this has been posted at times in the 7+ years I have been here, but I could not find any search results.
Does anyone know of any jobs or companies that you can work from home over the internet and links or additional information.
I may look into opportunities at this time.
Thank you Kickers!
Tim

many moms on another group were talking about being paid to be a chacha guide. people ask questions and you research the answers and get paid. Many questions are about people visiting your area and want to know where to eat, shop, etc. http://www.chacha.com/I haven't had time to look into it very much.

Hi Tim, my "retired" parents (who were faculty at boarding schools my whole life) are now teaching online at The U of Phoenix. They LOVE it. Every three weeks they sort of choose how busy they are going to be two months from now (classes are sort of 6 weeks long and overlap). So when they want to stockpile they take a lot of classes and when they go on vacation they free up their schedule. Except they never really seem to want to. This year they worked from Italy, Egypt and Greece. When I stop by to see them they are usually in their garden, both chairs facing outward as though at the beach, next to a little sign that says "Faculty Lounge". It's way cute. I don't know how I can help but feel free to ask me questions and I'll see what I can find out. I already know you'd be a great teacher.... I'd certainly put Online Moderator on my Vitae! Good luck, CC

Check universities - they usually have research type positions that are done from home.

Tim,
If you are a good writer/proofreader, pretty much every publishing company these days outsources almost every bit of editorial work they do. I know at my former company, editors went from doing actual editing to being nothing more than project managers over the course of about 5 years, and that transition was completed at least 5 years ago. Now, they literally hire hundreds of freelancers every year to do tens of thousands of hours of work. Be forewarned, however--the pay isn't the best, although if you're fast and accurate, you can end up making pretty good money. I know it's not just my company doing this either--any publishing company that outputs reference-type material (encyclopedias, almanacs, etc.) and most, if not all, textbook and nonfiction publishers outsource the vast majority of their editorial work these days. Competition is fierce, and you have to pass an editing/proofreading test at most companies, so don't bother even trying unless you do have very good writing/editing skills. The main style guides that are used are the University of Chicago Manual of Style and the Modern Language Association's style guid.
I realize this is a very specialized niche that won't hit many people, but I thought I'd at least throw it out there since it is a booming work-at-home industry. I cannot stress enough, however, just how cutthroat it is, as many folks who used to work as editors at the companies in question were laid off, etc. when the transition occurred and now freelance themselves. At my old company, we used to joke that nobody ever left, they just went home to freelance.
And, I'll just let everyone know up front that, while I can selectively provide the name of the company I used to work for via the KA mail system, I'm afraid that I really don't have any useful contacts inside the company anymore, as I have been retired for almost two years now. Wish I could help more, but just isn't do-able anymore, sorry.
Good luck with anything you find,
Brad
