Hey Kat, I wouldn't be surprised if alot of people here have secondary amy. I read a study saying it could be upwards of 50% of people with autoimmune disorders have it, but most just don't know it. The symptoms tend to be pretty nonspecific and subclinical, and by the time you get a diagnosis, it's sometimes tough to treat.

I can't wait for Glen to come home. He's back for about 8 hours on thursday night and then gone again; I'll take what I can get! He's such a workaholic - owner of his own company. I'm really proud of him, but I wouldn't mind it if he took a weekend once in awhile so I don't feel like I'm dating my phone. You have no idea how many phone batteries I go through. It's pretty funny.

Yah, I had the same feeling. As I was reading the list, I was doing mental checkmarks. There were a lot of them. I have a feeling I'm not the only one.

I wonder if that could be a new tool to find out if treatment is working. If the Amyloidosis symptoms disappear, your inflammation is under control???

Sadly, Meggie, anyone who owns their own business must be a workaholic. I had no idea until this summer when I was working fulltime and doing casting for the zombie flick. Part of the goal was to increase my little production company's profile and experience. I was exhausted and I would grip and kvetch to my sweetie about it. All he said was, "Welcome to the world of being a business owner." "Fine for you," said I, "but you've been doing it for over 200 years, so you're used to it!!" It's only really been almost 45 years for him, but I had to get my own back somehow.

Ah well, I know the eight hours with Glen will be that much more precious given the circumstances right now. It takes a hell of a lot of patience to live with a workaholic. My dad was one and my sweetie is one. Of course, they both had/have home offices, but still. The patience you've had to foster living with AS will stand you in good stead.

I'm thinking boutcha.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Hey Megan, I really don't know what to say. It's just so wrong that you are having to deal with all of this. My heart goes out to you. You don't deserve this crap!!

I hope you and your doc can get to the bottom of it SOON!!!

Hugs to you
Chelsea

This condition is somewhat serious if you indeed have this. Like someone posted above, it is a rare condition that can be caused by AS. It causes deposits in your organs which is very bad. If severe enough it can cause organ failure. I hope that this is not your DX and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
