Hi there - I am finally in touch with our Arthritis Assn to discuss finding a Dr for my partner who has AS - he finally agrees that he needs help - on top of AS he has developed bad depression / mood swings which he has finally admitted he needs help for. I am wanting to make a list of med's that other people with AS are on so I can take this to the Dr with him to discuss - he is on a few differents meds, but the Dr's here don't seem to know what to do with his condition, therefore I would like to be able to take a list of different meds to the dr for discussion - any help you guys & gals out there can give me would be muchly appreciated - am trying to do as much research as possible on this ) hope all is well with everyone ..... Hiya Julz,

I don't know much about the various meds...there are soooo many...

NSAIDS eg Voltaren, ibuprofen etc
steroids eg Prednisone
sulphasalazine,
methotextrate
biologics eg Enbrel, Remicade, Humira

We have a whole forum here about meds: AS Pharmacy Forum

You may also have more replies if you post in the main forum "#1 AS Web Support Group"...that one gets the most traffic.

Hi Julz,

Glad you are doing research as some Doctors don't know much about AS. What meds is he already taking?

Regards,

Emily

Hey Julz,

You are on the right track. Reach out to whomever you need to inorder to find him the best doctors in your area.

As far as meds go, I would get him to a good rheumatologist first and see what they think. There are over 6000 AS Kickers here and most of us have our own cocktail of meds that we take. There are so many for both that AS and his depression. I would take Kiwi's advise and go through the AS Pharmacy forum and take all the info that you want. There are links to drug company websites, and other helpful info there.

Keep supporting him, that is thee best med right now.

Keep Kickin'AS

Awesome Chelsea, thanks for that - I'll check it out. I think that our small country is a bit behind with most of the meds those overseas are on, so thought I'd see how things go with a list for the Doc. Cheers for the advice )
