It's ridiculous in Alberta, isn't it Sherri? I couldn't handle lining up at 4am in freezing temps for it either. My feet only let me stand for about 5 mins anyway, so I have no idea how I'm going to get mine... hopefully they'll come up with a better plan, but I just have no idea how they didn't anticipate this.

Hi all. I called my doctor yesterday just find out what's up with the clinics etc. I was told to come in tomorrow to get the H1N1 shot at his office. Perhaps you can do the same if all other doctors have been given the vaccines?

That's what I was thinking of doing, Timo. Have to check with him first but I figured it was better to go without than spend hours in a line up with potentially sick people.

Excellent - I am very glad they are looking after you this way Timo - and so they should!

I hope that is happening here for some patients at least but it doesn't appear to be an option at my GP's office.

Kudos to your doc!

One of the locations is right around the corner from my office, so I'll head over there after work tomorrow.

Timo, I'm glad some doctors have it in. I haven't bothered to check at my GP's office. Last year when I called to book for the priority flu shot, her receptionist made me feel badly for thinking I was a priority just because I'm on an immune suppressing med. Can you believe it? "What makes you think you're a priority," she said. I love my GP, but that woman needs an attitude vaccine. I can't stand her.

Warm hugs,

Kat

I was surprised, for sure. I wasn't looking forward to the whole "find the clinic, park, wait in line etc" routine.
I'd been hemming and hawing all week whether to get one but this thread made me decide to go ahead with it.
Mig, maybe soon your doc will get it?
Kat, an attitude vaccine? That's too funny and what happened when you told her that?
Wendy, I wonder if the medical clinics have the shots? In and out in a half an hour, I would suppose.

Megan it is ridiculous. Like HELLO....I could have planned it better. So they are supposed to be eventually opening clinics for priority people....who knows when though. Why are you freezing...it's not cold here. Im still wearing flip flops

I haven't had the courage to tell the receptionist to her face that she needs an attitude vaccine. She's probably make every time I call the doctor miserable, instead of every 2nd time.

Warm hugs,

Kat

I just returned from my doc's office and what he'd done is get all his at risk patients in for the shot(s). There were about 10 people waiting in line when I got there so he'd booked maybe 10 per 15 minute intervals.
I was given both the basic flu and the H1N1 injections so I'm covered I guess. I was a bit surprised that I had to be injected behind my eyeball though. Just kidding
He had it set up very efficiently and people moved at a good clip.

Anyway, maybe your doctors' are setting up the same type of system so you wouldn't have to wait in huge lineups?

Cheers,

Timo
