And I thank you, that was well worth watching/listening to. In fact, I think I'll give it another shot right now since those synthesized voices are kind of hard to make out in points.
Never seen anything quite like it before.
(well, not counting last night of course)

yes, i think it is good to ask these questions and have these discussions, i learn so much (gain new perspectives) from listening to what others have to say, especially those that see things differently than i do. i think the most interesting questions are those that may not have an answer, those that have been asked over and over again since the beginnings of recorded history. it may not be the answer that matters in the end, it may be the discussion that turns out to be the most enlightening of all.

okay, can't seem to keep quiet very long, can I?
Those voices are processed by a plug-in called Auto-Tune, one that is now either destroying the music industry, by correcting the pitch of singers when they go out of tune, or giving them new tools to get creative with, depending on your point of view
the most famous of that is Cher's "Believe" song, where you can here the type of sound when that type of processing has on a voice, the pitch correction can also remove all natural vibrato, which is kind of a cool robotic voice effect (for a while at least...)
Personally I think it is really impressive that somebody would use that plug-in to process non-singing talking voices, it takes a lot of work, they have to sit there for hours and create melodies out of non-pitched dialog
I wonder what will happen if somebody creates a hit song out of one of those videos? Could Carl Sagan win a Grammy? Who would get the royalties?
Now these are the kind of philosophical ponderings that keep ME up at night...

Those shows sound like they will be something worth waiting for. It seems to take an awfully long time to get a doc onto PBS? Or is two years of post-production on a documentary normal?

I have ben following this thread and felt I have two put my 2cents in Ijust have to say we are all brothers and sisters and we have different paths but no matter how hard we try we are all brought togeather so that we can learn from each other I have ben searching for my path for a long time and each time I think I have it figerd out somthing happens to take me on a different path I have found meditation agood way to center my self in christ I just glad that I have found a place here that people except me for me and for that I want to thank and may the bless you on your path

This documentary on Buddha indeed may take longer than others because they must pause to reflect in the garden of contemplation, make an edit, then again gaze upon the transluscent waves, rippling amongst the golden fish in the pond..
Or sometimes PBS schedules the broadcast dates in advance, and the work expands to fit the time available, but yeah, that is a longer than typical amount of time for post production

Hey don't forget raking the little sand gardens or building giant, multi-coloured mandalas out of sand...that has got to take some time.
