Hi,
i just started Humira injections, three days ago. pain is almost minimal. But having a lot of trouble with my stomach ache. It is more like cramps, pianfull bowel and fair bit of nausea.

* Is it common, does it go away by itself?

No experience with stomach cramps on Humira - either me in the past or my son now, If you were not truly over the flu when you started Humira - that may be the culprit.

Yeah, I never found stomach problems to be an issue with any of the biologics I've been on. Humira is indicated for helping to treat GI problems like Crohn's and UC.

Hope it is something that passes quickly.

Good luck with that,

Chris

Hi thanks Nina, and Welcome to Kick AS... hope you kick it well! I did not that abdominal pain is listed as side effect from humira.

Kev, did warn me (to make sure am off all infections), but i think i rushed it. But the symptoms were settling down when i first started humira. So as it turns out in last 3 weeks I have had a viral and bacterial infection. Also, acidity so bad from naprosyn that it has got my throat. So i think I shook the infections off and then started Humira.
And the bowel cramps now, as the GP rekons is gastro. What are the chances of getting 3 infections in 3 weeks, just when I get prescriptions for TNF.

Well am off work now, as the cramps are pretty bad. And really really hoping that its gastro only and not humira's side effect.

Would like a healthy christmas.

sorry you had cramps. Are you feeling better now? I have been on Humira for 4 months and it has been life changing. I have not had cramps from it, only ear and scalp rash/possibly psoriasis? Going to Rhumy later this month about it.

Hope you are feeling better.

Hi mate,
well i had some stomach bug, coincided with me starting humira. Feel much much better now.
So much so, that I am training to put on some weight now. Lost too much in the bad phase.

Humira is wearing off on me after 10 days or so, and can still feel pain in SI joints. But it is probably only 1% of the pain before.

Thanks!

Glad to hear your feeling better. Give the Humira some time, apparently it can take some time to start really working.

Ive been on Humira for 2 1/2 years and I have no stomach cramping but I do notice it wearing off before the next injection. My rhumy says he would try to slowly taper off it but I had an infection and was on antibotic and I had to miss a dose and those 7 days were horrible.
