If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Im very new at this NSD, and old habits die hard. I cooked dinner tonight - including rice for the wife. when i was ready to serve up - out of habit i tasted the rice to see if it was cooked to her liking and before i realized what i done i had a spoonfull in my mouth. i spat out what i could but half of it is now on its way for the klebsiella to chuck a party.

Hey, Darryn:
Rice, in its natural state (not turned into a flour) is not so poisonous and You may not experience a flare at all, but if You do it should show up within 20 hours or so. Some of us must be very strict and others not so careful.
Don't worry=Be happy, John

Old habits do indeed die hard.... b*gger, eh? I've found that as time has gone on I have got more sensitive, and things I got away with at the start will cause me to flare. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I have a question. I'm not on the NSD. So then why is it that I can eat all the rice I want and it doesn't make me flare when I'm not in a flare, and doesn't increase the pain when I am in a flare? Does the NSD only work with certain people who have AS? Because I've never noticed a connection. Just wondering.

Hi Pete,
I'm no NSD expert, but I'm the same as you, but have also found that eating red meat causes me to seize up in the mornings, with TBone being the worst.
I guess it points to NSD working for some not all.
The symptoms for AS are so varied. A specialist told me that AS is "atypical": as in not typical; not conforming to the type; irregular; abnormal
So when you have an inflammatory disease that doesn't conform to a known disease such as arthritis etc, they call it AS!
We could all have our own unique disease with some coincidental symptoms!

The NSD does not work for me, but I do notice bloating w/ rice (even if soaked). I also flare if I eat red meat, but recently, I tried grassfed ground beef w/ no reaction. I think it's true that it's less inflammatory. Just something to try!
