Reese, people tend to think of flares as you currently do: pain that appears and then disappears. However, you seem to be like a lot of us. The pain is always there, to the point that it's like white noise - always in the background and virtually unnoticeable after a point because it's constant. I've come to think of flare as being more pain than usual that lasts more than a couple of days.

As for your future, it will be what it will be. Your concerns about it are valid and understandable, but all you can do is live your life the best you can, doing what you can to mitigate the damage the disease may cause. Yours might end up being a relatively (and it's all relative) mild case that never really goes beyond where it is now. Or, you might end up with severe kyphosis and disabled. You don't know which it will be, so do what you can to make yourself able to live your life. Fight to live your life, every day of your life. Fight to do the things you love to do and never surrender. I firmly believe that this disease has not limited my ability to accomplish the things I want. I just might have to be creative about how I accomplish them. Let your fear become the fire that fuels your accomplishments.

Hugs,

Kat

This is the thing. Not everyone who tries NSD/LSD gets results. Not all RA patients had evidence of that P. mirabilis. I think you're onto it in saying that there maybe multiple triggers. I would add that, probably, no two patients are alike and the individual case should be taken into account, rather than stating that all RA is caused by P. mirabilis and all AS is caused by Kleb. p.

But that's just my opinion.

Warm hugs,

Kat
