So, I assume what you mean with the assertion that you have changed the way you eat is that you are now minding calories? If not, please elaborate. Thanks.

Kind Regards,
Jay

Hey there,

Good to hear AS is becoming somewhat of a bystander. Pray for continued good health in future and AS stays away.

BTW - gut bacteria is not making me fat... I have no fat, still wear same pant size as I did in college 20 years ago smile

The way I have changed my diet is to eat my main meal before 4.00 pm, every day. After that I might have some juice or a bowl of fibre but not very much at all.
During the day I don't worry about what I eat so minding calories isn't in the plan. Don't even think about it.
Before I made the change I was a constant weight and couldn't lose an ounce, it seemed, and it was frustrating.
Sure, I am eating less but I really feel that the way I eat has made the biggest difference.
As I mentioned, this works for me (I guess it's about 2 lbs a month) and might not for someone else. It's very nice seeing real life results.

I can probably find an article that says smoking is not bad for you too.

Nothing beats exercise and moderate eating ever. People just dont want to do that.

Surgery is a last resort and has many complications. I work in a hospital. People who get this surgery are at risk to die from it.

Ok, I'll take you up on that, find one.

C'mon, a blanket statement like that makes no sense. I, for one, and many others *can't* exercise so it's not a matter of "wanting to".
I found something else that worked for me and I'm happy with that.

Interesting. It seems somehow logical that you would drop some unwanted weight eating like this. I've struggled for some time to understand why we (typically, not always) eat our largest meal as the last meal of the day. I've tried to switch this up over the last few years to make my meals smaller as the day progresses. I sure don't really all those calories in the evening when I'm not that active or during sleep. Two pounds a month sounds like a good pace. I hope you continue to see desired results.

Kind Regards,
Jay

Yes, I think the article Timo posted highlights how undesirable this surgery is. Unless your weight problem is life threatening, it seems rather foolish to entertain these types of risks.

Quote:
The Langford mother of three had waited five years for her vertical gastric sleeve gastrectomy, a form of weight-loss surgery that essentially shrinks the stomach from the shape of a sack to a thin tube. Six hours after the first surgery, Kehoe required a second, this one to stop the internal bleeding. She endured a blood transfusion, elevated heart rate, swelling in her hands and arms, and spasms of post-surgical pain.

It also highlights, among other things, that medical doctors know nothing more than the poison, cut, burn approach to try and help people.

Kind Regards,
Jay

Thanks Jay. Just a few days ago, a group of us were talking about the 5 smaller meals a day theory. It's like one would be grazing all day long but we didn't know whether that was good or not. I guess it depends if your system likes that, or not, and is able to process the foods efficiently.
One thing, I sometimes do go to bed a bit hungry but after a while you get used to it and it becomes a part of the process. Not a deal breaker for me.
I hope your switch over works perfectly for you!

Timo I apologize for the generalization about people not wanting to exercise. It's true though in most cases. I think a lot of people say they work out but in reality dont.

the surgery is risky, I have witnessed people die from infections after. But for some people who have let themselves go it's there last alternative.

Hi Timo, i was wondering if your change in eating habits has effected your sleeping patterns? do you take any liquids in the evening after your final meal for the day?
