No actually, I've done volunteer work outside of Louisiana but lately it just so happens to be in my own backyard...

I don't know Lisa, they've stated on the news that they're going to but I don't see how an accurate dollar value can be placed on damage when nobody knows how many years into the future this will affect the fishing industry...if the corporation has enough money or if they'll file bankruptcy or government bailout...you know, the usual it seems these days...glad to say that we'll personally be okay in this, but you're totally correct in that sooo many who are just getting back up after the last several hurricanes were just getting back up may not be able to recover from this, I guess only time will tell...times are tough these days, economically for everyone right now, not just Louisiana...I don't really see where the government should have to foot the bill...nor should they let them harvest here and ruin the land and leave...anyway, I better stick to trying to help the animals in all this...I'm so glad to see ya!! hugss xxooxx

I couldn't believe that it is taking the President so long to come there. Our government is not really doing anything. Hopefully BP will do the right thing. I am glad I don't have any BP stock. I know that BP is responsible for this, but I would like to see more governmental action getting things organized.

I hate to see all the wildlife that will be suffering in the next few weeks. It is really a mess. God bless all the volunteers who are trying to help.

Hi Gerri...you've been on my mind today...I'm sorry to be the one to tell you but I dropped about 80 pounds of 26-30s last Weds....and I bet that's the last I'll see from the Gulf Coast for a few years...and the price is going to go through the roof but the quality will probably go down and most will be import....now you can still get fresh-water prawns without getting it from overseas and if the oil doesn't invade the southern Atlantic, yall will be okay because they do get some of the same species of shrimp off the coast of the Carolina's and the Atlanic side of Florida, they're a little different but if there's a low supply and a high demand, the price will probably go up...so glad to get to chat with you...big hugs & sooo much love, my sister.... hugss heart

Hi Donna...I totally agree, believe me, we will lose value on property...I feel like my property became BP stock the instant they dropped the ball...there are tons of people piling in to help and vultures too...we're used to dealing with them though and you get pretty good at telling the good guys from the bad...but I will tell you that after what I've seen...people are still basically good...I def. saw more good than bad after the storms...

Michelle,

I can't believe it!! When I heard the news I couldn't imagine how that was going to affect you guys. Two big big disasters, one right after the other. I wish there was something we could do for you other than giving you prayers... and words of hope. Thank you for the on the scene coverage. It always seems different when it affects people you know.

I can not defeat you but I will not let you win

Hi Michelle, my thoughts and prayers are with you all as you battle the effects from this disaster. We had an oil spill just recently on the Great Barrier Reef but it was small compared to what is happening there. Be strong but don't try and do everything on your own Michelle. Such a dreadful time for you all. I saw an interview with one man who said he had just recently recovered his fishing business after Katrina and now this, he looked like he had lost all hope. So many of us are wildlife lovers too and can only imagine the loss and what those poor creatures will suffer because of mankin; wish there was something we could do for you. The businesses and huge corportations who run these things need to be more accountable and have proven plans in place before they start, not waiting til it happens and saying "oh shock horror who ever would have thought it!"....
okay, I have climbed down off my soapbox now.
Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Sheeesh Michelle,

Not to make light of the situation in any way, but the first thing that comes into my mind considering Katrina and then this, is the expression:

It never rains, it pours (oil)!

Here's hoping and wishing that they find a solution fast!

James
