If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, I am wondering how often AS and Obstructive Sleep Apnea occurs. Does anyone else use a CPAP machine at night? Sorry curious, now that I've found my tribe (so to speak - people like me)...AngelX

My husband has RA and OSA and he sleeps with a C-pap machine.

Hi AngelX,
We checked the whole family after my hubby's heart failure was tied to apnea. Mine was pretty severe and all three of our kids had tonsils and adenoids removed before their sleep studies. The two older ones still needed cpap, they were athletic and thin, Dad and I were not. ;-) We love our cpaps, they have taken away that brittle, tired feeling. My S.I.L. and her kids were tested etc. M.I.L., S.I.L., 3 Thin & athletic nephews were all set up with cpap. The two younger kids were okay with just tonsils and adenoids removed. Seems pretty clear that something in the way our familiy's constructed has contributed to the common apnea. Hubby's Maternal Grandfather (another athlete) died in early 30s after playing baseball and cutting up a tree before bed. Hopefully, our boys will have some heart protection by using cpap.
Now our house isn't filled with snoring! :-)
God bless you and yours,
Kirst

Hi Angel, I have been diagnosed with PsA, but believe I am going back to AS. I have Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and used a CPAP, all the time. Since diagnosed with Celiac, my Severe OSA readings are now down into the mild/moderate, with a lower pressure. (down from 15 to ll)
My two boys one has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, the oldest I believe has undiagnosed sleep apnea. Sleep apnea runs in families. My boys have two parents with diagnosed sleep apnea.

Diabetes then OSA then a confirmation of AS all in the span of 6 months. Now I know why some people have a midlife crisis.

Hi Angelx,
Yes I also have obstructive sleep apnea. I was tested last fall and started using a cpap afterwards. I've tried out about 6 different masks so far...It helps with the sleep as far as the apnea, however like every other script we get, there are other side effects that come with it. For instance, I have severe dry eyes, which has turned into recurring perforations, so my mask has to fit absolutely snug. No leakage around the eyes.

Hi Nonnie, I also have used many CPAP masks. I have been using a CPAP for six years. I now use the Mirage Activa LT mask, and likely will get another one similiar, next replacement. I have used nasel pillows and actually liked them. When my presure went up to 15, had to stop using them. Never gave thought to going back to using them, since my presure went down to 11. I couldn't use a full face mask, there were too many leakages. My CPAP is the Resmed Elite.

Hi AngelMom, thanks (I thought it would sound mysterious) Ha! I was just curious if it was a common thing...I guess it is. Yes, I think CPAP has been a good thing. The OSA runs in my family (siblings), but not AS..thanks for the response, good to meet you!
