good to see you there smile
but boy those blisters sure do look nasty!
has anything been helping them? steroid creme, etc, i just can't remember?
also can't remember if you said they itched? more painful than itchy?
hope you do get in to see the derm. soon, but if not, i think you have some good photos there. hopefully they'll take this seriously, and more importantly be able to determine the cause and even more importantly how to treat it.

Hello James
I hope you get this problem sorted soon - the rash looks so sore. Worse than the first set of photos you put on - glad you are not having to wait until September to be seen by someone.

My mum had a rash on the palms of her hands recently (not half as bad as yours) the doctor prescribed her some cream (don't know what it was) and it did go after a while. No explanation as to what it was really though.

I hope you get an answer as to what the skin rash is, how to cure it and with any luck how to avoid it in the future.

Take care,
Tink rainbow

Hi Tink,
Nope, I won't have to wait until September to see a dermatologist. We got an appointment made for August 17th with a different dermatologist, BUT, we did some more calling and I can see even another dermatologist on August 6th. So I have a little over a week to go. I won't cancel the second dermy-appointment unless I know everything went well with the first.
Thanks for the help and well wishes.
Take care,
James

Hi Sue,
Actually, I don't really know what I am supposed to use to treat these blisters yet. The Medrol Pak and Benadryl worked great, but then the blisters came back, so I tried a few days of Claritin (since it is already prescribed to me for allergies). The Claritin had no effect yet. It looks like I might have to go get some OTC Benadryl. She was looking at various creams for me today, but I just told her to come back home... I told her that I thought it would be best not to experiment with putting something directly on them until I can speak to a doctor about it. I have some triple anti-biotic cream here, maybe that'll help. I have iodine too. hmmm...

Yes the blisters itch, sometimes alot, sometimes a little. Mosquito bites are far itchier to me, so it isn't too bad itchy-wise.

Take care,
James

i can understand you not wanting to put anything on them until they are looked at. also if you are too successful at getting rid of them, they'll have nothing to look at, and since its only a week or so away.........

i can tell you when i had my leg rash, with the itchy itchy bumps, i was most concerned with getting them to stop itching as it was quite maddening.

and though the combo of steroid creme and antihistamine creme helped, ice packs actually worked better than both of those combined. if you think ice could be an ok thing to use, that might make them hurt / itch less, just an idea.

good luck at the doctors!

Hi Kat,
Thanks.
Quote:
I wonder what helped most, the steroids or the Benadryl.

I don't know actually, but I'm suspecting the steroid might have helped more, but only because I have taken a few days of Claritin and saw no improvements.

It sseems so unfair that you are having all these complications and I wish we could make them go away for you.
Well, like I was telling my rheumy... I have gotten used to these types of setbacks so don't feel bad. smile
Actually, I've been through much worse before, so it seems like just another day to me.

Take care,
James.

Thanks for the ideas Sue,
After I'm done typing here I'll try some ice.

Hi kurumi,
I have about a week to go, and then hopefully I will know right away what it is and or what to do about it.
Thanks,
Take care,
James

Hi SunnyPower,
Yes, I was calm about the whole thing, both at the ER and at my Rheumy's office. I was calm because I was expecting something not to go right after trying another biologic. It was worth a shot though, and it did bring me lot's of relief. Too bad I might have to stop taking biologics in general indefinitely though.

Oh I almost forgot. We made more calls. We spoke to another dermatologist and they will let me be seen next week.

Take care,
James
