If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Adam, candida is damn hard to get rid of. I have managed to get rid of about 98% of the skin infection. Very easy for me to know how active the skin Candida is.... BUT very hard to figure out exactly how active the gut Candida is (I think it is still in my gut due to a certain itch I get.)
here is what I find helps: * homemade kefir yoghurt (probiotics or normal yoghurt probably works well too) * peanut oil - worked brilliantly for my skin infections - fixed up what the expensive antifungal creams could only half treat * greens - eg: broccoli, spinach * vegetables (good NSD vegies are carrots, pumpkin, coliflower, tomato,...) * coconut - didn't notice much effect myself, bet there is good evidence it helps * low GI foods - eg: protein, greens, carrots, pumpkin, nuts (nuts tend to be starchy though)
here is what makes me worse: * any food with refined sugar in it * coffee - immune supression I guess.. I don't really know why, I just know that it makes it worse for me

re: candida reduction with FOS / InulinSince it is not digested, our blood sugar remains stable with no sugar spike. It appears to be excreted rapidly in the urine, intact. What happens in the gut when FOS is ingested daily is phenomenal. Sugar-hungry yeast, and fungi (including Candida and others) just cannot utilize this form of sugar. In fact, as the "good guys" that can benefit from it begin to thrive, the yeast start getting squeezed out.
Within a few weeks, the population of bifidobacteria in feces increased about 10 times in an experiment with 23 patients. Bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, and other acid producing organisms flourish, and soon dominate the gut microflora.http://www.parentsofallergicchildren.org/fos.htmUnfortunately FOS / Inulin isn't 100% compatible with AS.. some of us have noticed it can cause a fair amount of inflammation. But hey, maybe some us can eat it without reacting ?? "Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

Here is a testimonial on "kombucha tea", this is a special fermented drink that can be grown at home. It's nickname is "K-tea". Also lots of testimonials for arthritis too.. quoted from: http://w3.trib.com/~kombu/FAQ/part02.html11. CANDIDA YEAST INFECTION
I wanted to comment on the yeast issue. About 3 weeks into drinking the K-Tea (anywhere from 1/2 to 1 cup a day) I developed a raging vaginal yeast infection AND an oral yeast infection (thrush). The oral yeast infection had never happened before. The vaginal yeast infections are pretty rare as well. I thought about the K-Tea right off, and wondered if it could be the reason I developed this. I didn't want to stop drinking it though, and I remembered reading here that other's yeast infections had been helped by the tea. Sooo, I experimented. I would take a swallow of the tea, and hold it in my mouth as long as possible. I did this several times in one day. The thrush was GONE the next day. After seeing this, I HAD to do much the same thing in the other area! ;) One treatment.... that was all it took. Vaginal yeast GONE and has not returned! Amazing, no?

12. CANDIDA YEAST INFECTION
I have had good results with K-tea bashing my candida. The itch is gone, and my skin is clearing. My husband has also noticed that his Jock itch is gone. We drink about a cup a day. My husband sometimes drinks more than I do; I seem to get heartburn if I drink more than a cup. Other benefits are improved circulation, vanishing hemorrhoids, and it gets rid of a sore throat real quick. I sing too, and notice that it clears my throat better than anything. It's very relaxing to the vocal cords. I drink some before performing.

3. ARTHRITIS
The other day, a woman who used to work for my wife and who had to quit because of arthritis, came into her place of work. The woman had been using a cane when she quit. This woman was like a new person. She no longer used a cane and had quit taking her arthritis medication. My wife asked her the reason. She said that "she was drinking a quart and a half of K-tea a day, and never felt better in her life." She offered to give my wife some mushrooms and my wife decided to accept. Wednesday we went to this woman's place of work (yes she was working again) and she gave us five mushrooms. I gave one to my brother who has had many heart attacks and is still having a lot of digestive problems; and I have four gallons of tea brewing in anticipation that my three daughters may want to try it.

o.k., then... not to offend anyone's sensetivities, but .... well... this whole thing I am reading about contagous infection and then about the candida albacans... once you have gotten rid of this candida, can you get it again from ... a "close" association with an alcoholic who has it? That is as gently as I can state the question for family viewing.

>> can you get it again from ... a "close" association with an alcoholic who has it? actually.. strangely enough candida is a normal skin / gut flora. it's yeasts like this that cause belly buttons and toes to smell like cheese. But there are also many different strains of candida, with different strains of candida occupying different parts of the body. And for whatever reason these candida strains can change from their normal harmless form to the pathogenic form eg: skin (ringworm/tinea), groin (jock itch), scalp, feet (athletes foot), and gut ok so can you catch a pathogenic strain of someone? Well I certainly have *heard* of it happening, but for people with healthy immune systems and healthy skin/gut flora I would say it isn't a problem. But then us AS sufferers don't have a healthy immune system nor do we have a healthy gut flora... ~~~~ My Blog ~~~~"Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

from http://www.health4youonline.com/article_sherridan_stock_conquering_candida.htm"Caffeine is an adrenal stressor, and depleted adrenal glands predispose to the development of candidiasis (vide infra). A deficiency of dietary fibre encourages intestinal candidiasis because dietary fibre gives rise to short-chain fatty acids, which inhibit the growth of Candida.."My experience agrees with the above quote. Foods that are high in dietary fibre are effective at relieving candida infections. I posted the following in the above url (titled help!) and I think I should add it here Here are the things that worked for me: * Avoid processed and refined foods. Especially sweets such as chocolates. The lack of dietary fiber allows the Candida to thrive on the sugar content without much competition. * Drinking lots of Kefir yoghurt. This is a home made yoghurt which contains about 20 different friendly microbes all living in symbiosis * Peanut oil. This worked brilliantly when used topically. For me it has been FAR more effective then any cream ever was. It is much cheaper too. I doubt it works as well orally since it gets absorbed and won't clear any gut candida in the large intestine. * Dietary fibre. Eat more of this. eg: almonds, desiccated coconut, dried apricots and dried figs. Pectins and Cellulose are forms of dietary fiber which I find safe for AS. Here is a great link with data on the content of dietary fiber in various foods * Greens. Eat more of these. eg: broccoli, lettuce, spinach (cellulose content is a form of dietary fibre) * Avoid caffeine. It makes my Candida worse. Allegedly due to the effect of caffeine on the adrenals, which in turn weakens the immune system.~~~~ My Blog ~~~~"Thy food shall be thy remedy." - Hippocrates, 500 BC

Hi. New to using forums so hope I'm doing this right :) Am online researching for my brother and father who have this condition and was interested to note a possible connection with candida as I have had trouble with this. In terms of treatment: yes, found coconut, grape seed extract yoghurt etc., all great but the main thing that cleared it for me - Kinergetics.
Might be worth checking out. Amazing stuff (a form of kinesiology). Australian based but I beleive it is accessible world wide.

OK, one last food that I had to remove before the Candida was altogether gone: ... rice.
I wasn't ready to give up rice in the last year or so as I was afraid that I would start losing weight without that source of carbs. However I am doing *much* better without rice and I am finally putting on weight (that is a good thing for me!). So my gut dysbiosis (candida) was stopping me from putting on weight.. the candida was really messing up my digestion and thereby stopping me from gaining weight.
Rice was ruining my digestion. You know, I think ppl who eat a lot of rice are usually skinnier..
