Hello, smalls:

Enbrel is a very good drug, and if available to You it could be a good option for some pain control, although it does not affect the cause of AS. If it were available to me, I would not use it because I have what I believe is a better treatment plan, but for some people it is a reasonable and reasonably safe choice.

I would not be too afraid of it, albeit caution with any and every drug is prudent.

It does not weaken the entire immune system like methotrexate (MTX) or steroids like prednisone, and apparently does not increase the risk of cancer, either.

One person has been on Enbrel for >10 years, combined with dietary starch restriction so adjusting the dosages according to basic control needs and has had no problems and the drug is still working. It is thought that the greater amount of exposures with a minor factor being the exposure level, can train the body to develop antibodies to drugs like this and they will stop working, but if the time between exposures can be increased or amount of drug reduced, perhaps it will have a greater useful lifetime.

Good Luck, whatever You decide,
John
