It is surprising that you think those events were about religion. I would have thought folks outside of this country (U.S.A) would have been exposed to more plausible theories for the events on that day.

Well, from what I heard, the terrorists were praising Allah, not saying "Have a nice day"

Yep it amazes me the total lunacy they believe that killing innocent people makes you a martyr..that and you get your 40 virgins...wow!

But yes they THINK they are doing it in the name of their religion.

I was just looking on www.cnn.com in the U.S. section and there is an article we were talking about called: Small choices, saved lives: Near misses of 9/11 if your interested in people that almost were there and died it said Cantor Fitzgerald lost 658 employees and Marsh & McLennon lost 295.

Hey Steve,
Thanks for the insight as a New Yorker, and a brother Kicker.

I remember 9/11/01 like it was yesterday. I had just finished teaching a First Responder class to a group of high school students at the firehouse. As I stopped by the day room to talk with the guys on duty they were glued to the TV and just motioned for me to sit down. I watched as the second jet hit the towers, and word started coming in about the Pentagon. As the pictures of my FDNY Brothers were shown heading towards the towers I couldn't imagine how they would tackle those fires. Then as the first tower fell I knew that they were running up those stairways as others were trying to get out. My heart sank. Not only for the 343 of FDNY but for the thousands that perished with them on that day, in the towers, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, PA.

In recent weeks I have become addicted to the show "Rising" on Discovery. To see how far Ground Zero has come in 10 years is a tribute to the men and women that are rebuilding that area. The new Tower One and the surrounding structures are something to see. The Memorials are very dramatic and a wonderful tribute to those that we lost that day.

Being an ol country boy, going to NYC has never been something on my bucket list. But whether its wanting to see the Memorial and visit some of the Firehouses or if its just softening under the constant grind of this damn AS. Someday I may make that trip. And I'll certainly give you a heads up if it happens. There is a lot for the people of NY and America to be proud of 10 years after...

For those that haven't seen the rebuilding here's a great website.. WTC.com

Hey Chris,

Most of the world doesn't see the extent of the hit that the FDNY took. My building houses the Statne Island office for the firemen who spent weeks there after the builidngs came down. The toxic smoke is killing many of them bit by bit. Lots of them were guys I golfed with. Firemen (here) love golf. Still feeling 9/11 all these years later.

Brave beyond belief what those guys do, day in and day out.

I know at one time I saw where they were going to some of the Congressmen asking for help..I can not believe we would deny these brave men and woman that were there for days, weeks, months recovering loved ones and now whe they need help to be told nope no money for you guys..just interested if you know.
