If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Howdy everybody, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced or has any advise on this. For about the past week or two, I have noticed that my legs are weak and shakey when walking down stairs. It doesn't really happen any other time. I wonder if it could be indocin (just making them shakey, which I assume is weak). I have been having A LOT of pain and problems with my hips, could this have anything to do with it? Take care my friends Daniel Keep on keepin on Kicking some AS
Take care my friend,
I hope this finds you well,
Daniel

Can't help you, Daniel, I've only experienced leg weakness when it was directly related to a disc problem, my right leg is still a bit weak, especially on the stairs. Just make sure you hang onto the hand rail. I took a minor tumble down the cellar stairs this week, no damage except to my dignity and the big toe on my right foot, which turned into something resembling a plum, but a reminder that I need to be careful on stairs. Hi Daniel, I get this quite a bit. I don't know why. I know that I cant take NSAIDS,so I know it can't be the pills, for me. I'm trying to wallpaper right now and because of this I can only get 2 pieces per day. I just assume that it's weak muscles in my legs from lack of walking. I've been in for Xrays where I've had to have help walking out of the room.
I call it "Crazy Legs"... I hope you get better...Hope

Hi Daniel I do have weak & shaky legs especially on stairs...always attributed this to CFS! Muscles hurt & so so restless when going to sleep. Not sure if this is related to AS but I'm sure our own little in-house Rheumy will hopefully be able to enlighten us both! Jeanna help!!!! I have the same thing and it started just this week. I am just getting over the flu and thought is was from that. Was a little better today, but defintely still there. I am just hoping it is from inactivity and being weak from the flu. Dan. Who knows what the drugs will do to us?

Hi Dan, My leg strength difficulties - when they happen - always occur on the way UPstairs, except for knee troubles which occur on the way DOWNstairs. The upstairs thing has almost gone since I started working out regularly, although when the fatigue hits me hard I still struggle sometimes. The downstairs thing (in my case knee pain) is, as far as I know, incurable unless you can somehow remove the inflammation. Have you had an infection recently like DanVon? Loz :)

Hi everyone, It is inetresting that some here share this symptom, but mostly atribute it to inactivity. My level of activity and exercise has only gone up in the last month or so. I would have thought the same thing if that wasn't so. I have also not been sick with anything recently, except for sick of AS. Thanks for all of your responces. Hey Dan, I have had this problem in my left leg for many years now and it happens to be the left hip that causes the weakness in my leg,at least according to my Doc.I get shots of Cortizone in my left hip a couple of times a year and it helps with the hip pain and in turn my left leg can carry my weight until the shot wears off.
Best of luck,LD

Hi Daniel
Before I was diagnosed with AS I had problems with my right leg not being able to hold any weight at all. Even just walking my right leg would collapse from under me if I tried to put any weight on it. I limped around all the time. I even fell over whilst playing Netball as I went up to catch the ball, landed on my right leg and promptly fell over as my SI joint could hold no weight.
I seem to have it all under control now with regular visist to the chiropractor to ensure my hips/pelvis/spine are in alignment, remedial massages to ensure the back muscles are in place and am working on strong stomach muscles help to hold everything in the right spots.
I have actually just come back from a 1/2hr massage session on my lower back & feel 100% better.
Hope you can try some of these to see if they help.
Natalie
