If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Molly , I just took 4 days of 50,000 vit d, I don't know if I want to hear this as I have my first bone scan soon. I wonder if being on low dose prednisone for over a year will have depleted my bones. I have tried to keep it as low as possible, it is a bear to wean off of, I am at 7mg and taper 1mg a month, it makes you grouchy when weaning and my knees swell when I taper too fast, wish I knew what I was getting myself into, but I had never heard of it, nor had any presciption that lasted over a week in the past ,everything was so new and I was in so much pain, so I know why I tried it and I couldn't do the metheltrexate.
I will have to try that supplement we talked about recently in another post for osteoporosis.
How are the hypertension meds? Are they helping? Does hypertension and athlerosclerois go together? The reason I ask is when I went to get a clindamycin infusion for my RA at a naturpath's clinic she told me people with athlersclerosis responded well to clindamycin infusions. I don't know how an antibiotic could help hardened arteries, but she helped patients and had the labs to prove it. I wonder if it would help hypertension. Well I hope its getting better. Take care.
Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year. www.fatsickandnearlydead.com excess fat/oils = pain for me recipes for raw food on Youtube "raw food romance" and "healing josephine" Josephine is in remission from RA after two years by change diet/exercise

From what I have read from the literature from when I got my Dexascan, If you take less then 7.5 mg of Pred, you are OK. If you take more, you can be at risk of getting Ostio.
Donna Cherish your yesterdays, Dream your tomorrows, But live your todays. Do the very best you can leave the rest to God. God Bless,

Valsmum - Pred and osteoporosis = linked. Pred, nasty stuff. Am hyperreactive to it. Poor you, what a horrible experience some of these meds can put us through. New anti-hypertensive? Seems to be working. Still spiking, but nothing like my usual spikes. Maxed out the other day at 187/105 - but down from all too usual 225/120... Doing good!! That's a spike, lower was 138/85 so that is coming under control, but the spikes still there. We'll see what the cardi has to opine when I see him again (whenever that is!) Quote question : "Does hypertension and athlerosclerois go together?" Yes, they do go together. Am not very good with antibiotics, react rather badly and somehow don't fancy a clindamycin reaction, C-diff... (My mother died from C-diff, hospital acquired). You said you had the supplement...Yes? Awaiting yr input with bated... Take care me dear - and mille gratz - la Moll

I believe that 50,000IU dose is to be taken once a week. Not sure if the body can utilize that much in 4 days back-to-back.

They do say somewhere in the paper/s that best to take 'a' dose daily and higher dose once per week! (But that for about a year, depending on the D£ levels found). Agreed, one could over do it! Also, need to point out the additional need to take calcium; magnesium - there was a whole list. (No need for iron, and check IF supplement has got iron in it. They are linking iron to having a poor effect on the brain). Am not a nutritionist - or anything like!. Would need to check out the detail.
Interesting though.

Avonlady, Glad to hear about the 7 mgs of prednisone being somewhat "safe". I did ask my dr if there was safe amount of prednisone and he said 5mgs, but I didn't say for how long, and I know Ihave been on it too long. Trying my best to get off of it. Iknow a gal that took Orencia to get off of prednisone, but so far I am on track and tapering 1 mg without it. I may end up taking Orencia again, I rember my knees looked good while on it, but it did not help all my pain,so I wondered if it was worth all the potential side effects which are pretty scary.
What works fore you avonlady? Are you out of pain? Thanks.
