For the first time in years (probably around 10) I feel normal.

After my condition worsened to the point I had been laying on the couch all day for the last few months, I finally relented and decided to try Humira. I'm an idiot for being so hard- headed about making this NSD work. I had been trying it (NSD)for the last year with very limited success thinking all along I just needed to fine tune the diet and I would be pain free.

I swear I feel 20 years old again. I forgot what it was like to feel this way. I promise you I'm not a drug rep or anything. In fact, I had grown to hate the fact that my doctors had contributed to my ruined gut with NSAID's and had decided to avoid drugs even if it kills me.

I took my first injection last Friday. Monday I ran 3 miles AND worked a full day. That hasn't happened in like, forever! I'm a cattle rancher so I have a physically demanding job.

I feel like I've gotten my life back. Anyway, just wanted to share with people who truly understand how [*bleep*] AS really is. Thanks for listening.

Hi Raw

That is great news. Hope Humira continues to work for you. I am on Enbrel and it has made a HUGE difference. I wish I didn't need to take pain meds in addition but I will take what I can get. I know we all tend to over do it when we feel good. Hope you find what works for you. Don't give up on diet. I went to a all natural diet and lost weight along with feeling better. I just make better choices, food wise, when they are available to me. Glad pain levels are down and you are feeling better.

I can not defeat you but I will not let you win

That's awesome.

I remember the rheumatology nurse telling me that I shouldn't be going fathering any children while on Enbrel.

"Well, I'm not planning to" I said.

"I see it so often," she said, "people with no plans for children start to feel great a few weeks in, things get a little saucy and BAM, bun in the oven"

Made me chuckle.

I'm always glad to hear when someone is feeling so much better. These meds can be like a miracle. I'm on Enbrel, and it makes such a huge difference to me. Enjoy this.

Hugs,

Kat

That is terrific Raw - glad you have found summat that works for 'you', but sad the NSD didn't - and it doesn't for everybody, just like the anti-TNFs don't work for everybody.

Just gotta listen to one's body. May you continue to go well - an a rancher heigh? Tough job, you need everything to help. Take care -
