Hi Everyone, smile

Well today was not a good day, I mean worse than usual. First I backed into the garage door because I pushed the button on the garage door opener clipping it on the visor. Didn't know it till I backed into it, no damage to the car or garage. I should have known when the back up sensor was going off but I was already moving.

We got our usual "Charlie Brown" tree at the local Drive Inn lot, a small tree with lots of space in between for all our ornaments. The tree is not big or heavy and I can usually bring it into the house without much fanfare. I bent over to grab the tree out of the trunk of the car when I got two sharp, burning pains stabbing me in the lower back, it took my breath away. I was really ticked that my back went out without even lifting the tree. I grabbed the tree and took in the house anyway, holding my breath for most of the way. I am having trouble standing up straight from a sitting position. Now I am on a heavy dose of prednisone and my regular dose of pain killers. I guess I will take a hot bath before bed time. I hope I am able to sleep tonight. Electric blanket is already on waiting for me.

Happy Holidays everyone!!! smile

Oh Jeff, Merry Christmas!

I am so thankful the car or the garage weren't damaged AND that you got a tree. I am very sorry you are in pain.

We put up an artificial pre-lit tree. It is out of the attic but laying in the garage floor all bagged up. Yesterday was the day and this afternoon was the day and now tomorrow is the day.

It is what it is!

You have such a great attitude.

With all my heart, Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Sorry to hear about your back going out. I love the visual of a Charlie Brown tree, that's funny and cute. Hope you feel better soon, take care.

Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year.

Been there, done that, but for me, I have this bad habit of thinking I can pick up and move chairs to where I want to sit, lesson learned, finally...... crazy2

Last time I did that, about a month or two ago, ice and more ice on the SI joint, sitting in my recliner, rotating ice packs. That's what i've always done.

But, I was on an antibiotic for a UTI, and it had only been less than 2 months since prednisone, so I couldn't take that. So I did something different, I took Aleve for a few days. It really helped. Long term and it gives me gastritis and edema, but short term I tolerated it. Took one every 12 hours instead of every 8 hours, that really seemed to keep the edema at bay. Did that for 3-4 days. Then just one a day for the next 3-4 days. By the end, my stomach wasn't too pleased (gastritis), but by then, between the ice and the Aleve, my SI joint was almost back to good. That was about the fastest it ever recovered, not on prednisone. On pred and it's usually much better in a few days. Depends to on how much it gets "tweaked".

But I hate that. Going along, all is good with the world, then BAM! and out of commission. I catch up on reading and tv / movie watching when in the recliner. What else can we do. The better we heal up, the faster we're back in the game!

Your tree sounds excellent! 1cup

Yep, easily done, and you feel so stupid afterwards. Hope the back pain was just a blip and your strategies deal with it before it gets to be a chronic problem.

I could do with one of those "charlie brown" trees too!

Bummer Jeff sorry about your yucky day! My back does that all the time...I have to constantly remind myself to take things slow, bend at the knees, use my legs to lift, etc. hope you feel better soon so you can decorate that tree!

Another notch on the list of things-you-won't-do-again. laugh

Hugs as you relax and watch the twinkling lights of your special tree. Glad you could rescue an otherwise-unwanted-tree and make it beautiful.

Possi,

Thank you so much. I have a list that works like that too! As you said, "it is what it is". I have learned to remember that when I can't get something done right away. A lot of times the stress we feel is the stress we put on ourselves. Stuff gets done but maybe at a slower pace. It really changes your perspective on what is truly important in life.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Joyce. smile
