Today i've met someone who claimed to overcome AS. It is a long story how i met him(lots of coincidences).

My cousin who told me that he overcame AS, said that he ordered some remedy from USA and voila! he was cured. He was very bad before the remedy etc etc.

I called him ofcourse immediately. One of the first things he asked me was if i was eating egg? Oh, i thought, this will be about diet!

Indeed it was! I talked to him for half an hour on the phone. Long story short, he was on a diet and supplements. He said that, to overcome this disease, we should help body heal itself, we should esp. heal intestinal system. Familiar?

But he knew nothing of the klebsiella and starch diet! Interesting right?:)

Ok, what is more interesting to me is; he is now able to eat cereals and legumes with no problem at all! He just has blood-type restrictions(another interesting issue, which i think might be related to us, and can help regulate NSD to every person), such as red meat and dairy, because he is type A.

Anyway, he claims he cured several people with AS. And can help me too.. But he asked lots of money.

p.s. the remedy was not from usa

I wouldn't give him a dime. This sounds more like scam to me. Unfortunately there are far to many people out there looking to make easy money praying on us or others who have health issues. There is no known cure for as and if anyone tells you otherwise they are full of crap. Please don't get sucked in

When you live with chronic pain, you never tell the truth. When someone asks you how you are or how you feel, you lie & say, I'm fine or I'm OK, & you smile.

I might have given misinformation; he doesnt claim to cure. He says that it is possible to control the disease.

Actually i was just trying to point out that someone else tried some kind of diet and supplement based healing and succeded. This is in my opinion very important because there are debates and suspicions whether the diet works or not. This is some kind of a supporting indicator since someone else totally out of kickas community and has no clue of Ebringer's work succeded to heal himself.

And what is not less important is that he did this without limiting starch.

And I would like to raise the question : could it be possible to heal gut without focusing on klebsiella?

He pointed out chinese and japanese traditional supplements in addition to classic omega-3, vitamins and minerals.

He asked for big money (which he claims to be used to buy 6 months of supplements from china), so i wanted to discuss this information here

I checked him from another source that lives in the town he did. He said it is true that he was almost crippled by AS and now healthy.

BEFORE I stumbled across kickas and this No Starch Diet last year, I was already well aware that potatoes and rice where causing gut and back issues for me and I had already given up eating them, without anyone suggesting I do so, except my own body. And at the time I was already (and had been for years) gluten free, dairy free, corn free, etc, all based on years of personal trial and error. So this diet absolutely clicked right away for me, I took absolutely no convincing, it felt like I finally found and understood the missing puzzle piece!

That said, I think it's great to continue to research food & health, and others' experiences, so it sounds like your cousin you send you some useful information regardless, but I would hope he wouldn't charge you for the info.

xo

I'm now a KICK AS (and Kick IBD) success story!! After going low starch Paleo to heal my gut, I can now eat nearly all starches, grains & foods without inflammation, flare-ups, or pain. I used a modified SCD diet approach (minus dairy! plus cacao ♥). Cheers to healing & thriving again! I blog at http://www.forestandfauna.com/about/

Maybe if he told you the names of the supplements he would buy from China it would be more information to take into consideration when talking about it. That sounds very interesting. Chinese medicine looks at health problems in a different way than westerners do, and has a lot of good information. I would be very interested to find out what he used to get better. Not all of us can completely remove starch from our diet, and it would be great to find out what someone else has figured out.

He told me some form of reishi mushroom's essence is to be used. And that he ordered most of the products from a company called tiens (http://www.tiens.com/)

I looked at that site and unfortunately it's all in Chinese:)
But that is very interesting. I was just thinking that if you got your glands and organs working well, your body might return to a healthy state. I've read that the adequate bile from the liver alone can kill most pathogens in the gut. And that if your thyroid keeps your body temperature normal, the heat of your body will help to keep things clean. Not to mention if you have adequate stomach acid to digest your food, there won't be so many left overs for bacteria, fungi, and what not. And if your adrenals and kidneys are functioning well, you won't be producing so much extra cortisol, the dangers of which are very underpublicized.
If he took Chinese herbs/mushrooms to get better, I wonder if he followed a Chinese way of eating. Maybe you could ask him about his diet. I have a book called "The Tao of Eating", which explains the Chinese diet and how different foods affect different conditions.
Did you google reishi mushroom? I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I don't know how well this would go over in Turkey, but a lot of people over here seem to like it.

I don't think he would be willing to give more information...
I havent examined reishi mushroom deeply yet. I most certainly intend to. And some other products on the web site. Btw, the web site can turn into english version, click right upper english link.

This could be a key information right? Since the early 20s i always had problem digesting some food, like red meat. Additional to NSD, i plan to eat considering digestion too. Maybe besides non-starch we should be eating what is easier to digest for us. (Well, actually this is a well-known information on this forum:)
