Hi everyone

How is everyone doing? Well as the title says I am going back to work! I am happy but a little bit apprehensive. I am going back May 1st which will be exactly one year since I had to quit and go on disability. I can't do what I used to do but I will be working in the office at the same company I worked for. Three days a week, four hours a day. My boss knows my situation and these hours are totally flexible. If I can't make it to work or I have to go home it will be no problem. I will work in the afternoon which will help as far as pain goes. I have worked in the office before at a competitor so I will need little to no training except for a different computer program I will be using.

It will only be till the end of summer then I will have off till M ay of next year. I am looking forward to having part of my life back in some respects. I have worked hard in the past year to doing things that will make me feel better. Diet and sport vitamins have helped in the journey. I have cut out one to two painkillers a day too.

I want to thank all of you for being here. I could not have done it without your encouragement and friendship.

Congrats! Sounds like a very acommodating boss. I hope it all goes will for you.

AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Getting good results with no-starch diet since 2011.

Hi Jeff,

That is great news, and your schedule sounds perfect. With my nursing the best they could do was four hour shifts. I tried them, but I just had too much neuropathic pain, and I couldn't be taking narcotics while working.

Good Luck,
Janet

Woot! Sounds do-able! Way to go!
So far being back to work for me is going well. Some days harder than others but overall going well.
I know you'll be fine, Jeff!

Congrats!! That's awesome and great that you have an understanding boss - makes all the difference!! As hard as it is some days to drag myself to work, it's the one "normal" thing I have left in my life, so I'll be fighting til the bitter end before I quit!!

Good luck! grin

cheerleader Good for you Jeff. Doing something that feels normal will be wonderful. I know you must be apprehensive but at least you know if it doesn't work, you can go home. We are just going to pray that it does work.

Keep you from eating so much pie!!

cheerleader hug
I am so happy for you.

That is so exciting! clap
I hope to be able to go back to work some day. I was laid off 4 years ago when I told my employer I was being deployed then I was injured but left embedded in Afghanistan for a year, then 2 years at the WTU and then med boarded and medically retired.

I don't have a job to go back to but if I can get my AS under control then maybe I'll be able to get into a program.

But, you sound like you have a great boss who values you!
