Dear ASKicking family -
Loz and I are proud to announce the safe arrival of our daughter Natalya Elena on the 7th April at 15:41.
I was induced at 38 weeks because my ankylosing spondylitis was kicking off - I'd stopped Humira at 32 weeks and things started to get a bit dicey, so my obstetrician said that as the fetus previously known as Little Bean was "fully cooked" we should "pull up stumps". We started induction on 3rd April, but ran into some difficulties. Turns out that LB was head down, but her neck was extended instead of flexed (known as brow presentation) and there was no way she was going to come out the old fashioned way.
We technically had an emergency c-section (also referred to by my awesome obstetrician as "coming out the sunroof"), but it was pretty relaxed and measured. She weighed 7lbs 13 ounces. Loz was able to come into the operating theatre with me wearing scrubs and a sticker that said "I'm Dad".The neonatal team was on stand by but left very quickly after Natalya arrived. One of the most joyous things I'll ever hear is Loz telling me that the neonatal team has left.
All of Natalya's first checks have come back normal. I'm healing and my ank spond is getting better. We're learning lots about each other all the time and slowly settling into a routine.
I'm falling asleep while typing so I best leave if for now. Hopefully Loz can drop in and share some photos

Congrats! Love the phrasing your docs have We have a Natalya here (Ukrainian) and she's always been called Nat since I've known her. English might shorten it to Nattie perhaps?

This Mama is hoping it'll be shortened to Talya! I have Natalyas in my family (distantly) and they get called Nettie.

WOW - *Great good news. baby Talya is here, all safe and well - well done medical team - Yea. Congratulations to you Strutsy and to you Loz, congratulations from myself and all the family. You have a wee Aries - nice one : welcome to the world little one  So very happy for you both  and love the photos. Love to you - all three
