Does anyone have issues with extreme aches around the hip/upper thigh area that comes and goes? I've been having some extremely painful aches that only come in bursts. They are pretty painful and I end up having to hyperventilate almost to deal with the pain.

I've has AS for 5 years but haven't been having this until recently.
Could this be a progression?

Hello, I have issues on my upper hip, i believe its the SI joint problem due to AS. What about sciatica? Have you read about it?

Only in the last few months have I developed upper thigh and groin issues. Especially when I'm driving or sitting for a long time. It's not as intense as your pains but really annoying nonetheless. On the top outside of my thigh bones is newish. Mine seemed to kick in roughly around the same time I started the paleo approach auto immune protocol. I was trying to be positive in thinking it was just herxheimer reaction but...?
Unless it is sciatica, my approach in attempting to heal myself won't change much because of it anyways.

Yes- I do have extreme upper thigh and groin pain.
it has gotten much worse, the last few years...

troubled spots and apin never really leave, but some spots get worse as time goes on.

A few months ago sciatica knocked me for a loop and finally went away with pred, but hips have been not as flexible since - this I say because I was using belly dance technique to limber the hips - cant do that anymore, its too stiff and hurts.

I am writing this for my boyf and as we're new to this but, he has AS, and it has took 5 years to get this diagnosis then they have mentioned he has the gene HLA-b27? I think that's the name. They sacroilitis before but can I have both? Also I walk on double crutch and have been put into the work related categories but with much disdain, and at the best of times am in agony I was forced to go a distance of 6 miles walking 1 mile to abus before getting on it for 20 minutes and then the same back and watever in between, so I told the lady who phoned up about my reconsideration I got 15 points on 2 discriptors and as discussion on phone, I said about journey I took she said I'm capable of that so won't change there mind even though I literally had no choice I had just been waiting a year for decision, so I didn't know about the phone all either that I could be at home to do it, ? Shall I appeal again I have been through so much and don't know if I can carry on with this !!!! I am waiting a year nearly for pip too not helping!! Even came out of interview from this first interview crying because I felt like he was proper dissing me and laughing I had the worst pain I had had and it happened to b here and then, excruciating groin pain and he laughed in my face I'm lucky I had my crutch sand a friend sorry going on what should I do
