[Interaction between Bifidobacterium bifidum, Proteus vulgaris, and Klebsiella pneumoniae 204 in the gastrointestinal tract of gnotobiotic chicks].
[Article in Russian]
Timoshko MA et al

Experiments on gnotobiont chickens indicated that the strains B. bifidum 1/85 phi, P. vulgaris F-30 and K. pneumoniae 204, when introduced simultaneously into the gastrointestinal tract in a single administration, proliferate there with the pronounced predominance of bifidobacteria. 6 additional administrations of B. bifidum 1/85 phi culture resulted in the complete suppression of microorganisms belonging to the genera Rroteus and Klebsiella as early as 10 days after the introduction of bifidobacteria. These data suggest that it is necessary to use B. bifidum 1/85 phi in cases of intestinal dysbacteriosis characterized by the predominance of microorganisms belonging to the genera Proteus and Klebsiella.

Hi all

Just thought I'd bump this one as I've finally gotten around to ordering the 2x mentioned products from Amazon and am already noticing significant improvement in rib pain and stiffness - and this is after less than 2 weeks.

I'm a lot more flexible and looser than I have been in a long time, and I'd certainly urge other AS sufferers to give this a try.

To the thread starter Rupy - thank you so much for sharing this information.

Regards
William

Great to hear William!

It's been 2 months since you posted, has the improvement continued?

From my side: I'm 1 year in now, and am still in full remission.

As far as I've been told, the term remission applies to being without symptoms and medication for 6 months. So I wouldn't call it a remission, but an effective treatment plan. If it's working for you congrats.

Hi Rupy

I only just noticed your reply today.

To answer your question, I've continued with the 2 products however, I've slipped back a bit pain-wise from where I was before Christmas, but I dare say that overindulging in alcohol over the holiday period - and every weekend since - has probably served to undo quite a bit of what I had achieved in terms of gut healing.

I'm now a week into cutting alcohol out completely, and plan to continue down this route until I'm feeling a bit more robust again.

This protocol makes sense as lactoferrin is antibacterial and antibiofilm, whilst the probiotic is thought to be likely safe and beneficial.

You could also add in peppermint oil for a further natural antibacterial in times of suspected high infection, although I don't think you wouldn't want to do this permanently, you would do it for 2-4 weeks along with a diet such as NSD or paleo to clear the infection, and then allow your gut to heal and re-establish itself naturally.

To my uneducated mind it does seem a bit counterintuitive to take both lactoferrin and probiotics together. Wouldn't they cancel each other out?

Typically you would take a probiotic on an empty stomach and take lactoferrin with a meal at a different time.

I noticed a difference within a few weeks, but then this gradually levelled off again as I was obviously continuing do do something diet-wise that was working against things.

Good to hear it worked, but it sucks that it did not continue. My diet is good at least for me. I have been eating the following starches for the last 6 months: oatmeal, white potatoes and rice. I was in remission during that time, but the low back pain recently came back.

That's why I doubt it's the starches, at least to me, some people report increased pain hours after eating starches, but in my case I have been eating those particular once for months, I'm sure if they are the reason I would've noticed earlier. It something else that triggers the pain in my case.

Hopefully these two work.
