I was Dx'd with AS in 1997 though have had this since '89. My Dr. gave 'it' a name but not information on this disease. I come to find there really isn't much information on this disease. I think AS is an orphan.

I am 39 and still have long stretches of optimism- Especially after reading the ASsports page.

Hope to meet other soon. Deidre

Hello Deidre and Welcome.... this is a great place and you'll find lots of information here specifically about AS... I was awed by the compassonate, knowledgable and determined people who made me feel very welcome. I've had AS all of my adult life... please feel free to email me anytime. I'm home almost 24/7 these days and online communication is a way of life for me now. Once again Welcome.. you'll love it here!

Hi Deidre - and WELCOME!

I am still fairly new here as well, and I have quickly learned that the people in here are a knowledgable, compassionate and genuine bunch.

You have certainly gone a long time without a diagnosis (and the info that should follow) There are many mysteries to AS, but the fact you have it shouldn't be one of them. Hope you find this place as great a resource and fellowship as I have.

Take care,

mig

WELCOME Deidre and Joan! Good to see the place growing. I think youll make some great friends here not to mention all the great info. I think youre right , AS is the orphan of medicine. Maybe we can all change that, squicky wheel gets the greas and all that. ;o)

Hi John,

I read some of the info in the Med section. I don't know how I feel about what I read yet. It seemed so ?????? - superficial? The more I read others descriptions of their experiences with AS the Med site only skims the surface of what AS can be. My brother also has AS also and presents differently. anywho- thanks for the warm welcome! Deidre
