Does anyone else have a problem with inflammation going up when drinking alcohol? I noticed the last few times i had a drink my pain would increase, i was thinking that a few drinks would decrease the pain, but i had to quit because it was to painful.

Never noticed an increase in pain from alcohol... Now though thanks to years and years of nsaids my stomach doesn't tolerate alcohol well at all... Have to stick to a 3 drink limit unless a real special occasion and then I get to pray to the porcelain god ralph...

I usually feel worse the next day, usually swear of Alchahol for life, although I am told everyone does that. With the pain killers I am on two small glasses of wine and I am anyones. Three glasses and my Pryesbeterian forbears seem to arrive in my speech and mannerisms.I pay for it in increased pain the next day. LUV Elspeth.

Most certainly so. If I take booze, head pain is almost instantaneous, apparently according to my docs alcohol has been found to increase inflammation thus pain.......mind you , if like me you drink enough of the stuff, it may hurt but you don't care anyway.....

hey dood....i quit drinking for some time because of those reasons...after I started going gluten-free i felt ALOT better...then i tried drinking again and didn't get sore...I attribute that to the fact I was drinking mostly beer and rye (100% fermented glutens)....i don't really get sauced anymore but still like to throw back a few now and again....switched to vodka/iced-tea...maybe you have to be more selective about what your drinking...just a thought...peas marco

I find that my thorasic area gets burny/tingly after I drink beer. Wine and gin, however, have no effect at all. Thank goodness.

Hugs,

Kat

Hi folks, I used to drink beer like it was water and one doctor told me that if I quit drinking my pains would diminish substantially. He was right on with those words. Alchohol does trigger flare ups in AS (at least it did in my case without a doubt).

Hope it helps,

Bob

I have never had a noticeable increase in pain with alcohol...I mostly drink wine, or mix rum and coke or something similar..I have no taste for beer. It's been way too hot for me to drink this summer anyway The only thing it does to me is make me tired and cranky so i only drink at home.....then it helps me sleep a lot better

Have not noticed a problem. Had been booze free for 15 years.
Starting dating again about 1 year ago and added back wine. This summer, added in beer.

Have not noticed any change except in my waist line. I remain pain free.
