WELCOME, Erin:

Some of us have psoriasis as AS is a 'psoriatic spondyloarthropy.' Mine was mostly on my arms, but sometimes visited ears (even inside), scalp, and forehead. No salve or cream can really fix it at the source; getting out of inflammation is the key. Really bad conditions have been cleared up by using teas made from slippery elm bark and saffron (American saffron, or safflower is fortunately the cheap variety that works). Then the elimination diet (starch-excluding) will help. The skin lesions seem to be directly indicative of intestinal lesions.

Best Regards,
John

Hi John

What I found works on Erics psoriasis is a mixture that my massage therapist put together.

She has Hungarian body salts, and she crushes them. She puts them in Almond seed oil.

I shake up the little container, and rub like the dickens. The salts are a healer, plus they take off the dead skin, and the oils are absorbed into the body.

Eric gets it on his elbows and knees the most, but some on his eyelids.

His clears up in the summer also, and I think that it was Loz that suggested a tanning booth. Havent gone to that measure yet, but a thought that was shared with me that I could throw out to you.

Good luck!

Lori

Hey Erin. I have these bump on my forehead also. I noticed it about the same time I believe the AS kicked in too. They seem to get worse on really bad days.

Hi Erin,
A big to you from the KickAS family.

My hubby is the one with AS and I have recently found an interesting site that deals with autoimmune disorders.
http://www.aarda.org/index.htm
I did notice a condition listed under the Q&A section called Dermatomyositis
That speaks of a rash like condition on the face. I'm hoping that is not what you have because it sounds serious. Hopefully you can chalk it up to hormones, heat, or something simple.

Glad you joined us! I know this site has been a great help to my husband and me since joining. I have met some terrific people! Look forward to you hanging around!

Take care,
Liz

Hi Erin

Long before I was diagnosed - I used to get insanely itchy skin, mostly on my legs. sides and lower back. Often it looked like angry red welts (?). The doctor never did get to the bottom of it and I found a cream ( aquatain ) that has kept it under control if I use it every day.
Don't know if this is the same thing as you have but I sympathise with you anyway.

Maggie

All I can say right now is....WOW!! If I knew how to make the WOW really big and dance to the tune of Footloose I would just to exclaim how overwhelmed I am by the responses. Thank you all for the welcomes and advice. I logged on this morning and wham there you all were. wow. (again)
As for the little red bumps they do seem to come and go with flares I have now noticed. I do have a little psoriasis on my arm (itchy little [####] too). Nothing to really complain about since it just seems go away with just a wee scar.
Thanks again people!

Erin
