Hello everybody...it's been a couple months since i've been here.. I hope everyone's hanging in there and supporting each other... I just need to vent a bit about winter... every year it's a struggle, and it seems as though a lapse in my health is inevitable.... so as i try to develope a strategy for coping this winter, i haven't come up with much... any tricks or suggestions from the gallery?...i am eager to find a job as well, but fear the worst will happen to me after i start somewhere....anybody in Ontario know of programs to help people with limitations find employment?......anyway...happy halloween....marco

Hi Marco!!

In the summer I expect a lot of swelling, and in the winter I expect a lot of PAIN.

So when it's winter treat yourself twice as nice!! Twice the hot showers, massages, extra blankets, lots of Rum and Coke (oops! did I say that!? ) etc. Anything to counter the cold.

Oh yeah!!! Actually I think it's a nice change. I mean, it's quite a DRASTIC change from the colored leaves.....two weeks of fall and then SPLAT! Winter already! Hey, that's the beauty of living up here in the Pennsylvania Pokes!!

Hi Marco - I agree,...I HATE the WHITE STUFF!!! Winter is annoying and I hate HATE wearing a gazillion heavy layers to keep me warm. My back hates winter coats and my hips hate walking on ice...brrrrrrrr I'm getting all tensed up just thinkin' about it!!

On the bright side,... gotta love hot chocolate, fireplaces, and watching new fluffy snow falling from a safe warm vantage. Mmmm and a nice soak in a warm bathtub! Now if only I could find some poor lacky to shovel the snow for me!!!

hmmm and speaking of poor lackys:
DOUG - since you 'like' the snow sooo very much... I suggest you hop on your sled, zoom across the 407, and come shovel all the white stuff that's gonna dump on my driveway!!!!

Hi Marco,

Happy Halloween

I too dread the winter. Like some have suggested hot showers and good drinks. Such as hot cocoa with peppermint schnapps. Just try to keep warm and just think winter doesn't last that long. Soon it will be January and February which to me are the most miserable months.

Take care.

I know exactly what you mean. Four years ago, I was still living in Maine -- it was January 1st, 1998, and an ice storm started. It kept coming for 33 days. We had no power for 33 days, the kids were home from school for 33 days, and my car didn't go anywhere for 33 days. ( Are you loving this? 33 DAYS!!!!!) To make a long story a little longer, at the end of the year, I moved to New Mexico, and SOUTHERN New Mexico at that (taking no chances on dealing with snow in Taos or Sante Fe). Haven't regretted that decision once. I am not a cold/snow/winter person, and I never will be. I can go back to Maine summers and visit -- that's the only time to be that far north! It's 115-118 every day here in summer, but it's dry heat (an oven is dry, too, right?), but I don't care. Today it was 76 -- I can go out and walk a few times a day, keep these joints moving, and feeling a bit better for it.

So that's MY solution. I can see why people retire here . . .

I understand what your saying Marco...
We woke up to snow this morning. EWWWW
It's hard to move around as it is, but winter time is so slushy and messy.
I was happy to get my my lift to get my wheelchair around, but how much can you do in a wheelchair in the snow?
We went through that ice storm that Patty was telling you about. Boy was that interesting.
They are saying because of El-Ninjo the winter is supposed to be bad this year. Lot's of storms.
I used to like winter because I enjoyed ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating etc..but AS has limited all that.
I haven't yet found a way to get through the winter easily, but if I figure it out, I'll be sure to share with you. Please do the same for me.
Take care and nice to see you back.
Lisa
PS
Do you find that whenever you say your name that others yell out POLO?
Or if somebody yells to you, you say it in return? LOL
Sorry but I couldn't resist. It's the first thing I think of whenever I see your name.
MARCO....POLO
