Maybe one more question for our American friends?

What is the "proper" cost for a flu shot down there? For healthy, non risk adults, the cost last year was 15 dollars Canadian (roughly 12 dollars US). I'm not sure if the price has changed for this season.

For people at risk and small children in Canada, there is no cost for the shots. For seniors above 65, there is also no cost for the shots. I qualify for thr shots because of a heart problem and I am a senior..

We have had hundreds of Americans from Washington State, Oregon and all the other States within a one day drive to our Province of BC, drive or fly or take a ferry up here for the day, take a quick tour around town, stop at a medical Clinic to get their shots and then go back home.

Since out taxes go towards reducing our costs for the shots, our American visitors are paying the full price which is $71.00 US currency per shot.

To coincide with your "last note" on this subject, I like to be more positive when talking about the value of having the flu shots. So, rather than counting up the number of deaths that either of our respective countries are having, I would rather point out the lack of deaths we are seeing in our Canadian Seniors Homes. Since the flu shots in Seniors homes have, since a few years ago, been mandatory, we are having minimal deaths and record numbers of Seniors surviving the winter flu season.

Thanks for putting some life, and a new perspective, into this annual flu topic.

And thanks for joining our AS Family.

George (A Senior and yes, I had my shot today and I expect to be here next year)
