That's a pretty tough trade - I would have thought the flow should go the other way if they are over visiting Canada what with you benefitting from the pleasureable company of both.
You neglected to mention that you can get a lift ON a lorry by sticking your thumb out and waiting for one to pick you up. This of course is forbidden on the motorway irrespective of direction of travel - such behaviour will encourage visits from the police.
Can't argue with the rest of it though!
